Hey guys so I finally got my new Chemical Guys Torq foam cannon made by MTM. I got to try it out on my filthy dirty 335i and was very impressed!

I am using it with the Ryobi electric pressure washer which is rated at 1700psi and 1.2gpm. I was worried it wouldn't be enough honestly but it worked like a charm!

I loaded up the bottle with 2.5 ounces of Chemical Guys honeydew snow foam shampoo and the rest with warm water. It worked like a charm! Great thick foam with good coverage!

Here's a pic:

Yes my car is Jet Black...haha

I want one now. :( That looks great, Chris. What'd it set you back?

I bought it off of chemical guys website for $94 I believe but it included the gallon of honeydew shampoo. It's cheaper without and you can buy the MTM cannon off of Amazon for $65ish I believe. I just got mine off their site since I bought a ton of other stuff and it ended up being cheaper

I have the detailer's domain water hose, it doesn't foam as much but I love it vs the buckets.

Yeah same concept just with a pressure washer for more foam. It's definitely nice! I'm loving it. I'm looking for another car to do

I found it is nice to use one hand with the gun and the other hand with the mitt to speed up the washing and limit the amount of soap you use. :)

I use the CG citurs soap. Love it !

That gilmour one isn't too bad. For the money to get to the pressure washer, I think the Gilmour is fine and perfect for a non-detailer like myself just needing to do some maintenance washes.

Yeah the only reason I got the foam cannon was because I'm doing more detailing now on much nicer cars so it's nice to have. The pressure washer too for wheels and wheel wells and such.

Plus my pressure washer was only $170 with a 3 year warranty and does the job so I'm happy! College budget didn't allow me to get a gas one that I wanted

That foam cannon looks awesome - that's the result I'd like to see!!

I hope I'm not thread-jacking here, but I have the Chemical Guys branded version of the one washing the cow - I bought it recently from ECS. To be honest, I'm quite disappointed. It squirts out soapy water, but not really "foam" by any definition. It doesn't really cling to the car, it just runs down. I am fooling around with different concentrations of different car wash soaps (nothing fancy though). Does anyone else have this one, and found it to foam well?

I haven't had great experiences with pressure washers (if I'm lucky they last the length of the warranty), so I was hoping to stay away from them. Although your results make it really tempting....

I searched for a while to find a pressure washer I trusted, especially that was electric, aka portable. I'll do an update after a few dozen uses and see report on how it's doing

What shampoo are you using in yours?

I don't know?!?! I'd have to check what I've used.

Ok cause the soap makes a big difference. I use chemical guys honeydew and it's the go to for a lot of people using guns and cannons. That or maxisuds. They're superior to a std meguiars or other types of soap for these

I got one off Amazon too. Car washes are much more fun now. But for $65, its kinda hard on the wallet for something that's so simple.

I paired mine with a Cleanforce 1800psi electric PW from Home Depot. Works fine. Gas pressure washers would be better, but electric is so convenient.
Btw, I used Megs Gold Class and it works great. You can get the 1 gallon bottle at Costco for $12. A lot cheaper than the Chemical Guys stuff.

I just use the foam cannon w/ the garden hose. And a two bucket wash. Pressure washer would be nice, but I can't justify the price and my garage is already too full.

i hear that. i would love a pressure washer. need to find one second hand or something...

i love the foam cannon idea. seems a much more efficient way to wash a car.

How do you justify paying $65-$70 for a nozzle and a plastic bottle that only shoots out foam? Haha j/k.

The way I look at it, each time I wash a car, I saved $10. So after 25-30 washes, the P/W and foam cannon have paid for itself. :thumbup

Yup exactly and when you're doing detailing on nice cars like I'm doing now, it's vital not to induce more scratches and such during post-detailing washes which is why this is nice. Also the chemical guys soap is more expensive but makes a huge difference, especially for stripping the old waxes off and the ones that are gentle on the wax/sealant but still get the other stuff off. Worth it for me, plus some of the cheaper shampoos leave a residue that I don't like

Anyone have well water and use these things or wash your car at home? The house I'm buying has well water and I don't want to risk contaminating the ground water or having angry neighbors.

Contaminating it with soap? It's not much different than washing it normally except slightly more quantity. I'd be more worried about "hard" water on the car's finish. Hopefully it isn't.

I wash with well water but I have to go over the entire car with quick detailer after every wash to keep water spots off. It's a pain in the ass.

You shouldn't have any issues with this. Normally the well is "tapped" into an underground spring of sorts. Here is a simple image of what the soap would have to travel through in order to get into your actual drinking water
http://ottawa.ca/sites/ottawa.ca/files/migrated/images/con063603_123474164.jpg

Growing up on a well, we were more worried that we would run out of water, or that the pump would quit. Wells can be anywhere from 25 feet to 500+ feet. Deeper the well, the slower the water flow.
Being in CT, you might consider having the water tested, as Shawn said, it will probably be hard. Not only will it leave water spots on the car, the water can actually eat through your copper piping in the house (ask me how I know). A filter is a good idea to protect against of this. ]

Back on topic....

That canon looks great! My detailer I use has one as well. I swing by if I'm too busy, or the town's water ban is in effect.

I do not have a foam canon yet but I do have well water and it goes through a water softener so the end result is soft water. Makes washing cars really nice.

This is on my bucket list of things to get.
