I was wondering if any of you put an LSD in your car? Which one would you recommend?

I've had a couple in mine and put one in Charlie's. they were both built by Diffs online. They also build for Turner. The ones I have/ had were both modified M3 style LSD. They are the most practical and economical Diffs. Our cars don't make a lot of HP so there's no need to go with anything too exotic.

Rob did an awesome job installing my LSD. One of best mods I have done to my ZHP to date :thumbsup Really brings my ZHP closer to my ///M regarding "fun to drive" :)

Charlie has a 3:46 ratio in his. I have a 3:15. Stock is 3:07.
There are a number of threads on here discussing the pros and cons of ratios...

LSD is one of the biggest improvements you can make besides a nice suspension set-up.

Plenty of options out there via a quick search.

if you have a stock engine - go with 3.46 lsd - you will be happy as a lark

I will have to agree with this. 3.46 is surprisingly amazing for the 6spd. I like the 3.62 for track days but its a bit short for street driving.

Just make sure to reinforce the subframe

What's the cheapest you can get an LSD that isn't an M3 rear subframe swap?

Subframe swap is getting cheaper. Its about $900 for everything if you buy the parts as a whole from the right guy.

Next best option is the MFactory LSD. $970 shipped. Group buy is $799 right now. Doesn't include installation.

Metal plate or Helical?

Helical is the most appropriate for street use. Wouldnt get a metal plate just because of the noise.

3:46 can be installed with any diff: LSD or open. In most situations, Ring and pinion is not dependent on the center unit....

Any thought to getting a Wavetrac?
I went down the rabbit hole and it seemed that it led there. Lots of snow-belt guys in E90s seem to love them.

From what I've read, they're great for daily drivers that see some performance driving here and there. For absolute performance, you're probably still best off with a clutch unit.

The only thing we've heard about the wavetrac was that they are relatively new and their reliability hasn't been proven

I have heard good things.

A local friend of mine has one in his 335 that is pushi g close to 500whp and he hasn't had any issues. He drives it hard to.
