I see this popping up periodically on threads as the OEM hose clamp faces downward and loosening it in the normal way with a flat blade screwdriver is a major PITA. Well, by my third one I came up with this technique:

The pliers are these:

45 degree tip is perfect but 90 would work also.
When you put it back together just reverse the hose clamp so the head face towards the front of the car and you'll never have to deal with it again.
