I have an 05 zhp with almost 130k miles. I've done most preventative maintenance that I can think of, but I'm wondering if it's time/is it worth it to replace the ccv. How can you tell that this needs replacing? It's not throwing any codes, but I have noticed sputtering in the cold. I replaced the vanos but I haven't encountered any cold weather since to make sure this fixed the issue.

If it does, is there any other maintenance that needs to be done at the same time?

Thanks in advance!

Where are you located?

One way to tell is to remove one of the hose and to see if you have any sludge/mayo build up.

I was planning on replacing the ccv system with the cold climate version on my wifes zhp. Car has 120k on it.

I'm in Alabama, so it definitely doesn't get all that cold haha

Do you have a preventative maintenance list of the things you did do to the car?

Which hose would be best to check?

The hose that is on the front of the valve cover where the vanos is.

I would be helpful to know what has already been done (assuming you know).

Hey guys I don't mean to thread jack, I just have a question. Concerning the CCV, how cold is too cold to run w/out the cold weather version?

I wouldn't bother with anything but the cold weather version. It seems to last a little longer and gives me a better piece of mind. The CCV was insulated for a reason.

I have done brake pads/rotors recently, and I have also replaced radiator hoses. Suspension is something I'm not ready to tackle yet, I want to focus more on the engine at this point. So, my list so far includes, precat 02 sensors, Disa valve, CCV, check radiator hoses, transmission fluid, diff fluid, clean ICV when doing DISA valve, oil level sensor (light seems to come on and off frequently), CDV delete. Am I missing anything huge? Which of these should be done at the same time?

My car seems to burn oil pretty regularly (I have to add about 1/2 quart every 1k miles or so). Anyone else have a way to correct this?

I appreciate all the responses on here

ccv might help correct the oil consumption!
