Nice, have fun!
I visited there when I was a kid and fell in love with shrimp and grits. I've never had it anywhere else that was close to as good as they make it there. Solid barbecue as well. And seafood. Really just fantastic food and cool historical stuff to see.

This morning I booked a campsite in Charleston for Spring Break. It's been on my list of places I need to go see, and after last year I decided we have to head much further south. 2 years in a row it's been COLD at spring break, no more!
Looking at pics from you and some friends of ours who moved down there a couple months ago sealed the deal!

Try Magnolia's, great food. Upscale IIRC. Also, buy one of those baskets that the ladies sell on the street. Those things are indestructible, we've had our for over 10 years and not a sign of wear. And of course, yo u have to go do Ft. Sumpter in dome way shape or form.

I had quite the night playing in traffic...
Had to pick my wife up at Reagan national. Left 720 from Sterling. Smooth sailing until I got to the access road towards 66 and it was dead stop traffic - inching along due to accident on 66. Was there 90 min. But then managed to escape via an authorized vehicle/bus exit lane that took me to a turnabout point to go back on 66 W. I couldn't believe it - it was like a magic tunnel transported me back home. My wife took metro to reston and I picked her up at 10.

2016 is shaping up to be an exciting year car wise. She is going to get quite the two year anniversary (3/21/14) overhaul in getting ready to stretch her legs for the first time...outside of parking lots...
To/have already order(ed) list:
BMW of Fairfax:
Front Strut Reinforcement plates
VANOS oil line + 4 crush washers
Front strut "camber" bolts
Bimmerworld:
Rogue Engineering Rear Shock Mounts
Amazon:
Mobil 1 OW-40 5qt.
MANN oil filter kit
Hawk Performance HB464N.764 HP Plus Brake Pads
ATE Typ 200 Brake Fluid
To-do List
Apex 17x8.5 ARC-8 acquisition and tire mount/balance. Bridgestone S-04's in 245/40/17 unless anyone has other recommendations. Can't justify Super Sports. Already blew the money on them for the 135s...
Install Bilstein PSS coilover kit and inspect ancillary items. Endlinks, bushings, etc. No plans to replace at this time, but TBD after inspection. Disassemble rear Bilstein shocks and reassemble using Rogue Engineering rear shock mounts. Fronts go in as supplied with new OEM mounts, etc and Front reinforcement plates. Replace ancillary bolts.
OFHG and VANOS oil line remove/replacement. Oil/filter change. Send sample to Blackstone with kit on hand.
Install Hawk HP+ pads. Flush/bleed system using ATE Typ 200 fluid and Motive Power Bleeder. Follow Hawk bedding procedure.
Alignment and pre-track tech inspection form completion at RRT.
Head to North Carolina Center for Automotive Reseach Track day April 9th-10th with Elcid86 and friends.
BMWCCA National Capital Chapter High Performance Driver's School at Summit Point Main May 20th-22nd. 2-3 BMWNCC autox events over the summer. ZHPMafia Family Reunion 2016 as well.
Of course, clay, polish and seal for the Spring/Summer with maintenance washes in between all of this with another Leatherique treatment once it gets warm enough!
YES I take care of my girlfriend as well...Scarlett doesn't get it all...even though it appears that way...

Does seem bass akwards. I guess my KWs are upside down too! Sure makes it easier to adjust! I can't believe a company would build something that forces you to fully disassemble the suspension iot adjust it.

no worries - it does seem strange, but there are two benefits of putting them at the top:
1. the rear springs articulate correctly (that's how they're designed - progressive coils on the bottom)
2. the sleeve threads stay cleaner at the top. :)

well, it's because of how the rear spring is designed - they had to do it that way for correct spring articulation and no binding. to be honest it is a pain but how often are you adjusting the rear height? the ground control articulating perches ("weight jacks" as they call them) are the correct solution as they allow for correct rear spring movement, AND allow you to adjust without removing anything (you might not even need to remove the wheels).

At RRT today. Told them about what we've talked about with the rear springs. They see no issues. Brought up PSS manual and it shows how we have it. They'd be the first ones to say something was wrong especially since they are doing the track inspection and they are saying it's good to go.

A few from the track...everything in my sig I'd like to say has been dd and track proven. Anyone on the fence about those Mfactory diffs needs to get to the other side.
The PSS suspension is perfectly dialed in. Car handled great and was a blast. Felt like I was learning how to drive a whole different car fast. My instructor was awesome and taught me a lot.
One of the biggest areas I improved on was braking, special thanks to BP for recommending the Hawk HPS Plus pads. Things were awesome. Really built my confidence up. Went from braking way in front of the 500 to the 150 on the front straight from 130mph. Also started trail braking which worked well. I remeber him saying our zhps like that.
Still have a lot to work on but damn it was fun.
Got a couple videos to upload as well just trying to figure out how to work with the Yi Action camera files...

Sounds like you had a great time and learned a lot. I had the same experience at my first HPDE... Got me all fired up! I used a similar technique to trail braking in motocross in turn and jumping.
For those of that want to know what Trail Braking is a how to do it, here's a great article on it: http://driver61.com/blog/how-to-trail-brake
Trail Braking when done correctly is awesome. It helps rotate the car since the zhp is more focused on understeer.

That's what I started noticing, was a bit unnerving the first couple times, but after a few runs you start noticing that she liked it and I felt more comfortable turning the steering wheel instead of just flat out slowing down from that speed, the adrenaline rush would hit me as you come to the end of the straight and took awhile to get settled down. Modulate the pedal, start to turn feel her rotate, get her around and then on to the throttle.

You think trail braking is fun, just wait till you hit a corner that is at just the correct angle and camber for some trailing brake oversteering action at higher speed. :)

Brake pads swapped back to Centric Posi-Quiets in front. Miss the bite of the Hawks but my ears thank me.
Put the 135s back on as well to compare. Steering feel is improved with the 225 fronts but she definitely isn't as quick. 2nd through 4th is slower.
They do look so good with the slight drop.

Steering feel on center with 225 section width tires is nice and crisp huh? But overall grip is most likely less then a 245 section width tire up front.
I can see why bmw went with a 225 up front when they designed the car. Too bad the style 135s are heavy.
Car looks good though.

My Hawk HPS 5.0's have become squeaky lately. I plan when I have a lot more time (see: next summer) to reapply some more anti-squeal compound and rebed the brakes to see if that helps.
The 135s do look good, always a shame about the weight. I actually didn't notice a drastic drop in steering feel when I switched from my 225s to the 245 square setup I have now. But maybe my Toyos that were on the 135s aren't as good as the Conti DWs I have on?

I was running the Hawk HPS Plus "Autox/track" pads. I REALLY can't complain. I think I did do a piss poor job of applying brake quiet which made it extra worse, but even if I had put more on it would have burned off on the front straight. I need to find a happy medium pad, I like the sound of 5.0's. Maybe we can compare at the Reunion. :thumbsup

The HP+ pad is an ear-bleedingly loud pad. There is nothing you can do to silence it.
The HPS is a street pad and will perform worse than the HP+ in a track environment. Stick to the HP+ till you start cooking them. That's what I did.

I came along this morning to Daniel's to see if we could get the UUC exhaust on. As he said, he opted to let someone with a little bit (see: a lot) of experience and a great home setup do the install for a very reasonable fee. I followed him over there in his 4Runner, which scratched my enormous driving itch a bit, plus I got to listen to the oft-desired catback delete on the way over. Here it was on start up, very quiet indeed. Ignore my stupid commentary:

perhaps. i think if there was a nice catted solution... i would be on board. the schmiedmann units (below) are very interesting, but i'd have to be sure that they don't trigger a CEL... i love the way my car sounds now, and i haven't even installed my BMW Performance muffler yet - but i know there is power to be unleashed with high flow cats, which is hard to resist. ;)

yeah. i'd be interested in perhaps having my welding guys figure out how to add some high flow cats to the bimmerbrake headers (at the collectors), which i'm sure would negate the stock header/midpipe flange location, but i would be OK with that. i want more flow and no CELs. :)

The problem is that the further the cats are from the engine, the less pre-heating you're going to get ( the purpose of the SAP) and that will trigger the CEL. That's one of the issues with the Schmeidman setup.

yep, i was thinking the same thing when i was looking at the pictures. and the high-flow units generally heat up slower/less since there is less restriction.

Headers would be nice for the freer flowing exhaust but for me it's a step beyond what I want from the car, especially with emissions concerns in OR, altered sound and volume, and CELs. Still, they are tempting in their own way (who doesn't want more hp?)

You can't do headers with this exhaust unless you wish to permanently lose your hearing.

IMO headers should be done with the factory exhaust or just an aftermarket rear muffler. A full cat-back with headers sounds terrible to me and is way too loud.
Plus the factory exhaust is not a bottle-neck in the system and replacing it is mostly for sound and looks.

Don't know about Highline Tuning, but I can tell you that with the Corsa, you get what you pay for. Stainless steel the whole way through, it will never rust into oblivion like many exhausts out there do. If you really want it, what you need to do is find a used set. I bought mine for $590, full catback...
Others have bought theirs for the $700-range.

Haven't updated in awhile, but just got back from a Christmas family roadtrip...started right up after 3+ weeks on the battery tender. ZERO issues there and back. Loaded with our stuff, presents, etc. Took some family to Christmas Eve dinner, fit right in with my Uncle's S6 at Buckley's Tavern. Compliments left and right, including the ever present "what year is that, a new one?" Went out together with that S6 and got a little tail happy (VERY easy to do with the super sports in 40 degree weather, reminded myself why I got the LSD :rockon ) I did wish I had kept the winters, but oh well. No more road trips planned with this car still Spring.
Oh and CONFIRMED for myself that there is ZERO drone on the highway with the TSE3. My Mom said she loved it as well.
Broke 87,000 miles...that'll put me right in at 7k for 2016.

Most of my driving is short trips or into D.C. With shitty roads, shitty parking, etc. It's a whole different level of pleasure driving the truck when you don't have to worry about it. Hit a pothole...what pothole? Mess up parallel parking, scrape the wheel...oops whatever. Etc etc
Plus the 5VZFE doesn't care whether you start it up for 2 seconds or a 5 min drive...can't do that with the m54 so there goes most of the trips or activities that require a car to the 4runner (grocery store, etc)
Doing what BP does and drive to work even though he can walk is out of the question here unless I wanted to get up at 3 in the morning which would be absolutely dumb. Plus I'm not about to add the stress of driving to my day when the sole reason I moved was to be able to walk to work which so far is a godsend.
