Hi all, new guy here, thinking about dumping my daily driver appliance and replacing it with a ZHP sedan. I have loved these cars since I test drove one in '04 I believe it was, and now's the time before good examples go back up in price. I already have an E46 M3 garage queen and an E36 M3 sedan track/autocross/project car, so a ZHP sedan seems like the best of both worlds (and a better daily driver than either of those, lol.)

I'm now in the early stages of making this move probably in the next few months, and I joined mostly to be able to use the classifieds/private messaging/etc. If anybody knows of a good car, please let me know. I'm in VA but would certainly travel within reason for the right example. My early "WTB" guidelines: ZHP sedan, three pedals, under ~120k miles, well maintained w/records, great condition/no rust/never wrecked or painted, stock or mildly modified only (lowered would be ok), etc. White or silver or gray (or really any color but red or black) would be preferred.

Thanks very much!

Thanks much! Seems like a lot of BMWs in NoVA generally, I've bought two great E36 M3s from there over the years. Hopefully there will be a great ZHP for me up there too... because 90min away would be just fine. :-)

Agreed. There have been a couple show up that seemed like good deals recently, sold quick though as there is a strong market here as well...cough cough...

Lol and there's the rub, being ready to make a move quickly takes some planning. It's also why I'm simply in 'market learning/window shopping' mode at the moment. To do this the right way i.e. buy a ZHP outright with cash I'd need to sell my daily appliance first, and that's tough to justify until I've really got a good ZHP (or three) on my radar. Additionally I drive a good bit for work and the M3s aren't insured for regular use once the daily is sold (a week or two, fine... just not months in between.) Anyway not your problem, just another thing I'm trying to figure out before I'm really ready to buy :fingerscrossed

Gotcha, I was in a similar boat so I understand. I was fortunate to get a bridge loan established before I sold my previous car, but that took some setting up. Missed a couple good ones, but ended up very happy, so patience and waiting for the right one is definitely key!

Thanks and I agree 100% about patience. Case in point I looked at probably a dozen E46 M3s across several months before I finally found and decided to buy the one I ended up with (which was luckily less than 3 hours from home), and it has been fantastic. :rockon

Sorta wish I was ready to buy, and that this one wasn't red. Can't do red, need highway stealth... but do want... location and price both good... must resist, lol... http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=1046011

That whole red thing and cops is urban legend, but it's not for some ppl. You should tag along with us on Saturday at BimmerFest.

Agreed it's urban legend and superstition for me personally. Mostly it's because I think Imola looks way better on an M3 - or at least a coupe. No offense to those with red sedans, it's just not my cup of tea. ;-)

Unless it's a big track weekend or at least an autocross I get very bored standing around in parking lots, also I don't feel like putting 350mi on either M3 for no reason. But y'all have fun! :-)

Ok, funds are now in order due to sale of E36M3 and the real search is underway. Basically I'm ready to buy quickly as soon as I find the right car. So what I'm looking for is as follows, just posted locally:

"Later E46 330i, sedan only, six speed only, good to great condition only, mostly stock & well maintained only, not high mileage or in need of any significant repair anytime soon, sport package preferred, ZHP cars considered if the price isn't artificially inflated. Prefer something within a few hundred miles of Richmond VA."

Thanks very much for any leads! With any luck I'll find a perfect candidate soon.

(And yes I did see the red 135k ZHP for $12k posted on Washington DC craigslist yesterday... still not interested in red ones but otherwise that car seems about right...)

You should reconsider red! ;-) GL WS. And welcome from a bit north of you.

He should consider Rob's car in MD, within 200 miles, black, sedan, 6MT, tons of maintenance done already. Look up "Newjack" on here, he's pre-approved to buy an M3 and salivating for one.

My zhp has 116k on it and is for sale the very second I buy an E46 M3. If I can ever find one worth buying...

Status? None really, lol. Bought, drove, fixed, and sold two different '03+ ZSP sedans. Never did find a ZHP I had to have.

Can't remember where/when I started on here so... still got E46 M3, sold E36 M3/4, sold Focus ST, bought mk7 GTI PP.

No plans to find or own a ZHP currently (although wouldn't mind another E36 M3, lol)

I've had several in the last decade, mostly as street cars, they're lovely. Good ones are going back up in price now though.

The one I sold that I miss terribly, lemme see if I can get these pix to work...
