Hey guys, my name is Josh,
I took delivery of a certain beautiful AW sedan yesterday. She'll be replacing my 07 335i coupe as my daily, as my wife has a bun in the oven and the 2 door has to go.

Here they are side by side in the garage (she'll have to get used to non-air conditioned jon, but it's still a shady dry spot)

I'll be doing a shock/rear bushing refresh on her and then it's time to let the 335 go!

Thanks a bunch guys. From what I can tell I'm really going to like this tight knit community, very big contrast to what bimmerpost has become lately..

And if you know anyone who's looking for a supremely well maintained, cleanly modded full bolton 335i, with the correct transmission, kindly direct them here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1023268

Glad another enthusiast bought it! Curious as to why you went from the e92 to the e46.

I sold my ZHP and bought a 335 a little over a year ago which is now FBO + more and slowly convincing me to go single since a bunch of my friends up here have/are going single in the next few months.

The e92 is costing me significantly more in maintenance than the zhp will, need to free up money for baby stuff. At some point I won't be able to resist the single turbo call and I cannot justify spending that kind of money on cars now.

FBO?
Full Bolt On ( also known as BPU, basic performance upgrades in the JDM world)

Meaning upgraded intake/intercooler//downpipes/software. It gets the N54 in the 335i to 380~420 whp on 93 octane.

Yes sir, that's going to be the biggest adjustment haha. Good thing the zhp is still zippy enough!

I definitely miss that about FI...an intake and a tune got my Speed3 ~25hp/tq...to do that on the M54 would require an arm, maybe a toe or two at the very least. It definitely took some getting used to the smooth/linear power delivery as well...I'm still getting used to it, but I've started to enjoy getting to know her sweet spots in the range.

I love the power delivery of the NA motors, almost electric motor smooth. That is definitely a great silver lining that comes with the power reduction. I feel like the power in the zhp is much more balanced to the rest of the car than the turbo engine too. It really doesn't need any more power when driving it hard. When I drive my e92 hard, I can only use all the power in a straight line, assuming I'm in 3rd gear or higher. [emoji13] the corners are easier and more fun at the limit in the e46 IMO.

Nothing crazy, I like pretty much everything Jon did and I don't want to undo all of his hard work either. Right now I'm thinking coilovers and poly bushes in the rear subframe/RTA's.

And then just drive the thing [emoji41]

+1

I tell people now that I enjoy matching the power that I have to the corners without having to go fast in order to have a ton of fun. Also, agreed on the power only being useful in a straight line, I hit boost in a corner with the Speed3 once and the torque steer almost put me into a tree...but that's a separate issue entirely.
