I have put an offer on a house and likely will be moving, but the driveway is scrape city and I don't think I can legally modify it as this part is owned by the city. What solutions (besides wood) have you seen that actually works?

I found this and am interested:

The driveway in question:

Anything else you guys know about I should look into?

Ouch, that was a new bumper with fresh paint a year ago.

It looks like the street has been repaved repeatedly raising its height above the driveway apron height, plus the apron appears to have settled. If the city/county owns the apron, ask them to replace it. If they say no, ask them if you can raise it at your cost. Here in Virginia, I know the homeowner owns & maintains the apron because I had one crack at our old house and the county told me I had to replace it.

Yeah, it bummed me out when I heard the noise. Oh well... time for new paint.

I'll look into contacting the city and see what they say. Thanks for the advice Bruce!

My secondary thought is would it be cheaper for me just to get that ramp vs redo the driveway completely?

Go in the driveway at an extreme angle like your aiming for the grass and then back up and turn right hard and in you go :)

I have seen a few products like the one you linked to. I believe they are a great solution. You should definitely do some shopping around as the prices and features will vary.

Already tried that, driveway is not wide enough for angled entrance :(

No wood...

FYI - the car will soon be going lower in front via TCK dual adjustable coilovers so this is an important issue...

The option of running a Garbino splitter still runs in the mix. Definitely not happening under current circumstances

I need to do this however I think the city would remove it for me in winter when they grate the streets

Thanks! I thought you might be interested as you are lower than me ;)

Honestly, it can't be that heavy. I would have no problem moving it if needed.

:)

I've wanted them for a while. My buddy is good friends with TCK so I can get it for a really good price. It's just not been a priority for me yet as I'm not at the point where I can say the E46 is totally retired from street use. When that point comes I will go all out on the track mods ;)

Hahaha.... but garage :)

15546

and it has a 3 car driveway

You have to pay to play. Respraying the bumper every once in a while is an assumed thing with cars I own.

His solution is 4k of suspension? Can't believe that. For me at home with a two wide driveway, I can get up using the most angle physically possible, no scrape. And this is with a giant lower and splitters. 3.5 inches clearance and I can make it. Then you can make it.

I have to do this if there is any chance of backing into my driveway. Most of the time, I give in and just drive in regularly. Personally to me if I had to worry about scraping EVERY time I pulled in the driveway I wouldn't buy the suspension.
