hey guys,
thought some of you might find this interesting. this is a scan of the original sales invoice from the guy i bought my coupe from - he was the original owner.
check out the car and package prices - even with the exchange rate, it was a really expensive car in canada. at today's rate that's $56K USD!
both of my cars are optioned fairly similar - M Performance Package ("ZAM" or ZHP in the US), Premium Package (ZBC).

i had no idea until you asked. :) a quick google search yields that it is some sort of anti-theft tracking system. although google also says that BMW now forbids the installation of it. weird.

Some of it could actually be of good value, depending on where you live...

no, it appears to be calculated at 15% (on the total, less trade-in.... $29349); PST (Provincial Sales Tax) + GST (Government Sales Tax). i don't know why it was that much, it shouldn't have been. it is 13% now, which is still astronomical.
where i grew up (vermont), state sales tax was 6% and i even bought some cars in NH, no sales tax!

Wow!! The sticker on my US ZHP was $45k... No wonder there's so little of them in the country. $65k is M3 territory in the US. I can't even imagine what a fully optioned M3 vert must've cost back in the day.
Taxes are ridiculous. I cut a ~$1200 check to the government when I bought my ZHP. Makes no sense that cars are taxed multiple times here...
Boomerang is a company that sells a built-in GPS service that they can track 24/7. Certain insurance companies give good discounts to owners that install it, especially for vehicles that are prone to theft.

Just about everything you buy is taxed multiple times. Cars are just taxed extra times :)
