You have 4 cars already, seems like an emotional buy. Just depends on how you feel at this point lol.

I don't ever plan to sell mine unless I sell it and replace it for an M3. Otherwise, I'll always have this under a cover somewhere...

I do have to say though that your cars are awesome. You don't really need this one in your life, unless you want to end up in the dog house!

It's a good price especially when you know what the car is about.

The wife cracked the whip? What about unloading one of your others that you don't feel as attached to? Shame she can't drive the others as you mentioned.

For those of you looking for the uber maintained ZHP, this is it. I first met Stuart about 3 years ago. I knew of him and that he had two of the ultimate e46s in the DC area if not the east coast, Wagone and this ZHP sedan. At that time, this ZHP was modded with only the best of the best pieces, it had been featured in magazines, the car was sponsored by several BMW aftermarket suppliers, he won every local show wherever he displayed either of his e46s, this sedan put nearly 450 hp to the ground, it was the ultimate ZHP. From my knowledge of the mods on that car, I roughly calculated that Stuart had spent nearly $40K in parts on mods and advertised the car for sale with mid-40K miles for the mid-$40K range. I was in awe of this unique opportunity but cash poor at the time, the e46f forum poo-poo'd on his asking price, everyone said he was nuts, so he took the car back to almost stock, sold off all of his modded parts, sold the car in its quasi-stock configuration with some light mods, and netted more than his original asking price. Remember, e46f said he was nuts for asking what he asked as a package yet he got more than that when he separated it.

Stuart maintains his cars to the ultimate standard, there is no question his cars only get the best. He retains more new OEM e46 parts in his house & garage than most of us will ever even replace on our cars, if it's a consumable item he stocks it. A fellow car aficionado, Emily, bought the car from him and used it as her DD for 2 years and during that time she relied on Stuart to recommend/prescribe maintenance intervals, so guess what kind of condition this car is still in.

If you really want a super maintained ZHP, no guessing, full records to back it up, this is your car. If you're looking for the best bargain (read cheapest) to fix up yourself (and I'm guilty of that), then look elsewhere. If I were currently in the market for another ZHP (but I'm not), this car would already be gone.

Bottom line, this car is an absolute buy with full confidence and that's coming from the previous owner of 8 e46s with 5 of them being ZHPs, none of mine were/are in the same class as this car.

Bummer. I am in the market again but clear out west.

If someone's in the market, there is absolutely no reason to exclude a car because it's on the opposite coast. With ZHPs, you can't be so picky for location. If you're in the market, you're interested in this car, and can afford it, BUY IT! No excuses! A car like this does NOT present itself every day!

Anyone have any insight on the fender issue? I mentioned it to her and she said it was there initially and to ask Stuart about it. I decided not to as it seemed a bit on the high end and decided to pass on it. Definitely looks nice though. Any idea of estimates to have it either PDR or pulled out and sprayed? Thanks!

1. Play like a sport, pay like a sport

Wow. Stuart...have to say I'm disappointed in that response. I'll stop posting and asking questions. Not sure where that even came from. I think I said it was a little on the high end. Regarding finances, I assure you I can afford this car...and a Tesla by the way. I've also got a kid about to go to college, so while I can does not mean I should or will though. I asked you a few questions because you offered and the n said please feel free to ask any questions I might have. Note taken. While I have asked a few questions, I don't think I have indicated that I'm looking for cheap, nor necessarily in my state. Yes, I have asked a few times about out of state looking for some guidance. It seems strange for someone not to agree to an escrow situation that mutually protects both sides in a remote, sight unseen transaction with someone you have never met. One that I offered to pay for. Not speaking of this car/seller. The fact that I mentioned I thought your EAG example at $19.9k was over priced has nothing to do with whether I can afford it. So can't see where you got "cheap" out of that. I guess the flamesuit is required. Sorry to bug you man. I'll bow out...of this car and any other posts. That was short lived. Thanks for all the help Dane and others. Take care guys.

The main reason why i came off this specific car was because of the fender damage. When i spoke with her via email, it was hard to get a straight answer out of her if she had ever had a PDR guy take a look at the damage. Its hard being out of state to just go look at it so being specific and borderline needy is what has to happen for guys out of state. I couldnt waste my time anymore after exchanging 3-4 emails regarding that fender. I think, personally, if she wants her full asking price she needs to fix that, even if it is 25-75 bucks to fix. Thats a drop in the bucket.

That being said: that car is gorgeous. I love everything about it. But if im dropping 19 stacks......it better show as 19 stacks.

330i ZHP
11-06-2014, 05:14 AM
Sorry I upset you. It was more about you being bothered so much about making payment on a car long distance (done everyday and my last three cars) and the really non- issue "damage" to left quarter.

I understand the car isn't for you. You started the conversations saying you couldn't go as high as $19k. She was willing to come closer to $18-18.5.

She is only asking $.50 on the dollar for the mods and the blue book value in very clean condition.

Btw, I am the one thst took a huge loss on selling the car. But thst is the way it is. If you modify a car (or house) you can never expect to get that money back in its entirety.

Good luck in your search,
Stuart

excellent post, stuart - this is where this forum really shines. yes, we are emotional about cars. but also, some of us can rise above pride and admit fault and apologize.

clearly stuart has a lot emotionally invested in this car and wants to see it appreciated and not picked apart because of a tiny scratch. i can appreciate his stance and have been there myself - sweat equity, "built not bought", all that applies - you are more emotionally invested.

i hope this car finds a new home and all are happy! personally, it is TOO clean for me... :)

Thanks Stuart. If you look at my mails, I only sent you two with specific questions about the car. And I never pushed you or expected a quick response or anything like that. I have a job too and I understand. It is funny that you mention my issue about paying for a remote car, when your comments in this thread don't even mention that.

I was seriously interested in this car. And, if you read my first email to you, it clearly says that I thought $19 was a little high...and not that I couldn't go that high.

I get the passion, and do appreciate the response. Could have easily been the car for me. But like I said, it appears as though my genuine interest in the ZHPs and nagging questions are not welcome.

I too apologize if I rubbed you wrong. I'll keep looking...but will cease on any further questions.

I know what she said, I'm not just slinging around comments haha. She said there was a ding/dent i.e. structural damage to that passenger rear fender. That picture is the FIRST I've ever seen of it. Black paint is hard to photo so just based off that picture recently posted I didn't see a "dent" but that to me doesn't mean that there isn't one there. Again, she told me there was a ding/dent. If there isn't one, then all the better.

I understand this is your baby that you built and used to own, but you are taking peoples comments waaaaaaay more harshly than you need to. I don't just throw out comments to stir the pot, I was told that by her and our exchanges weren't appealing enough for me to pursue the car further. I wouldn't have asked her if she could have a PDR guy look at the car if she didn't say otherwise, trust me.

Vas, as you know there's variables that determine just how much a used car sells for.... I won't go into them here but I have to assume you as well as others here on this forum are aware of the many variables that come to play.

I will say this regarding Emily's ZHP.... if I were in the market for a car and "if" I loved black cars, I would seriously be looking to scoop this ZHP up before it goes into someone else's hands. It's that nice and knowing this owner and the previous owner (history of this car) makes all the difference in pricing in my humble opinion. In this case, I would be willing to pay the asking price for this car just because of the ownership and maintenance history this car has. :thumbsup That's my two cents into this for sale thread.

Vas
03-08-2015, 06:32 PM
this ZHP up before it goes into someone else's hands.

But there are plenty of reasons as well to why it has not sold.

Private party cars are usually sold at a cheaper price then at a dealership. And the car here is being sold at the same price as the over-priced cars that EAG has on their lot.

If the seller does want to sell it, she is on the right path of removing some of the modifications and lowering the asking price. Those are my two-cents.

Vas, I won't argue the points you're bringing up. Plain and simple....if someone really wants this car they will pay the price the seller is asking for. Simple as that. Those who choose to pass simply because of pricing are missing out on a very well maintained and cared for ZHP. We all know EAG pricing is way up there and so is the dealer. The difference is that you really won't know what that car's maintenance or ownership history is like...

Seems this seller knows what she's got and that she knows her ZHP is one of those rare pristine condition ZHPs and she's obviously asking for the price she has put out. Look at how much Joop got for his ZHP....he pretty much got EAG pricing for his when he sold his and his car was just as nice. In the end its completely up to the seller so rather than continuing on the discussion of how expensive this car is I would rather focus on the finer points of buying this particular car.

The seller HAS lowered the price a TON and has removed the wheels from the price.

I am sure that one of the many Internet cheapos (everyone wants $11ty million when THEY are selling something - but only wants to pay $treefiddy when they are buying something)

I have NO input on the price - it is NOT my car anymore - I have tried to answer every single person requesting information, pricing, condition, etc, etc, etc, etc. I have tried to stay in contact with Emily concerning the car for those involved - but, regretfully for her (and the time I invest in assisting in communication about car or with Emily) no one seems to follow through

From the owner:

Hi Stuart - Here is what I have come up with. You know all the mods that have been made, but I'm just listing them so they're out there. I am including two sets of wheels - the BBS's of course and my M68's with snows. There are two new rear tires on the BBS's. It will need two new fronts for next spring/summer.

05 ZHP
72k Miles

Recent work done literally last week, all including labor:
- Vanos Supply line and OFHG - $375
- Front control arm bushings - $350
- Thermostat - $300
- Belts (AC and Main Drive) - $150
- Passenger side airbag recall serviced
- Trans flush w/ Redline Fluid - April 2013
- Oil service every 7500 miles

- M86 staggered wheels with Dunlop snows - little curb rash from previous owner
- 19x9.5 BBS CHs New Toyo T1 Sport tires and 19x8.5 CHs on front 235/35 19 Toyo T1 Sport - Need front tires. Wheels in perfect condition.
- 10mm spacer set for rear winters
- DICE iPod kit - not installed
- Full set of new wheel studs w/ open-end nuts and set of close-end
- Stoptech slotted rotors and Akebono Euro ceramic pads w/ stainless brake lines
- Bilstein PSS9 coil-overs

- Turner rear trailing arm bushing limiter kit
- ECS carbon fiber front strut bar
- Turner Rear Shock Mounts - HD alum/rubber
- Turner upper shock tower mount reinforcements

- Clear OEM euro lighting
- Clear Bra on front and various sections of the car
- PDC and factory alarm
- OEM M3 mirrors with custom bases
- Window tint
- JL Cleansweep sending to an Alpine amp (cant remember specs) and then into custom fiberglass sub enclosure with JL Audio 10w7
- Non BMW Performance carbon fiber rear diffuser
- CF splitters

Car is still in same condition as when I purchased it from you. Still super clean.

$19k

I'll be happy to talk to anyone that is interested and if anyone wants to come see the car. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Another thing. Can we please put to rest the rumor the car had a serious collision? It didn't even do more than a little dent. In my honest opinion, paying $16k for a car that is in the condition that this car is and how it looks is better than I expected. I think this is more than fair as far as pricing and the car you're getting...

I did care for her with all my heart and Emily has done the same

When I shipped my last car from San fran area it was $800. The x5 from fla was $450. And the wagon from San Antonio was $600

What company did you use? Everywhere I have gotten quotes to ship a car from the east coast to Oregon is easily $1,000+ for an open-air shipment.

Hi All - I just joined ZHP Mafia, and literally just posted my new member thread. As I mentioned in there, a clean 6MT black on black sedan (330i) with heated seats is exactly what i've been looking to find for the past 4 months. I actually saw this car ( i think) on auto trader, or somewhere, when i first started looking.

Stuart - I might be the guy you've been looking for. I'm meticulous and looking for a car I can make my baby. I have cash in hand.

I saw someone mentioned some of the mods had been removed? I'm actually hoping for a standard height car, but most of the mods listed sound great from what I took away. Would love to learn more about this beautiful car.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

Hi Dane - i reached out to her and she responded quite quickly. i had actually spoke to her months ago when the car had the original wheels and was 19k. She remembered as well. I told her if the car was 16k now, pending a pre-purchase inspection, I wanted to buy it from her. I think this is the car i've been waiting to find.

I really hope this works out! She said she is going out of town for two weeks after tomorrow so i'm trying to work something out.

The only thing I'd want to do to get it ready for me (post buying) would be to adjust the coils so it's not lowered anymore. I don't know much about this, so if anyone has thoughts on this process (un-lowering) please let me know.

Update: Had a great chat with Emily (the owner) on the phone yesterday, as well as much longer in-detail conversation with Stuart (who is awesome!) about the history of the car. The car it truly a rare gem from everything i've learned so far. Stuart is also a rare gem of a former owner! He was beyond helpful!

Emily is out of town on vacation for a short period, but we left with the plan being I would fly in upon her return and purchase the car—pending the PPI results—at her asking price. I didn't want to try to negotiate. The price seems very fair considering all the work done and the condition of the car, and I was more interested in letting her know i'm serious, and I don't wan't the car to get snatched up by anyone else.

If all goes well, I'll be getting the car the first week of April. (finger's crossed).

I will officially close this thread now:

After a month, yes a month, of waiting, the ZHP has arrived! Apparently shipping in an enclosed container cross country to San Francisco from Virginia Beach is almost impossible this time of year due to "snowbird season"—cars coming back up from Florida and easy money for the shippers. After finally giving up, and paying a painful premium just to get someone to come get it, it's here!

Overall: It was a lot of work, but couldn't be happier now that I have it. Time to enjoy driving it now (finally)!

The stock Style 135 wheels that came with the ZHP is a nice looking wheel and I rolled on them for nearly 4 years...

When you have a car as nice as Jon, the Style 135's look okay but adding a set of BBS or ARC8's will really set the car in my opinion. That's all I'm saying. I was fortunate to get a set of BBS wheels and can say they look absolutely perfect on our cars....

I figured out it's the splitters that make me think of different wheels. It's a bit more aggressive looking.

135s still looking good though.

NOOICE. Agree on the 135s. Got plans for some wheels?

No plans yet. I've only had the car for 2 days. I'm hoping to get perm license plates first. Ha.

I may get some new wheels, but I'm not sure which yet. I'll probably stay stock for a while,. I definitely don't mind the 135s.
