How could a 2001 330Ci have had SW 4.5? Upgraded LCM I suppose. :dunno

I'm asking him if he will separate the two items.

He won't lol

I wouldn't sell both to the same person... that person could very easily put both in the car if the cluster/LCM have lower mileage and claim his car has less miles...
Poor judgement on the seller's part.

So, the ultimate LCM is S/W 4.0+, w/ Euro Fogs, Auto Headlights, plus or minus the leveling switch depending on if your has auto or not?

Not auto headlights for non-ZPP folks though. And the leveling switch is useless on US cars I think. Set up an eBay alert for the 4.0+ part numbers! That's how I snagged mine.

Why? This one is ideal... just swap the faceplate with a euro one if you want the rear fogs.

I have a non-Auto euro faceplate for sale :)

A bit overpriced if you don't need a cluster though.

Yep. No response from the seller yet.

And an eBay alert prob would find the right one as most ppl don't list the SW ver.

Yeah you really need to look for part numbers (people do list those). Found mine for $35 :shifty

I haz 200k car. I buy this LCM and cluster, respray the front bumper, and sell the car for $3-4k more than it's worth claiming it has 80k on it.
See anything wrong with that?

I don't know what you mean by 'pov'.

POV = Point of View.

A person buying a car should always check carfax for mileage records and what not so I feel like it's a buyer's fault when they are fooled like that. You just can't 100% trust a seller unfortunately. We don't live in that world.

Car Fax isn't 100% accurate. There have been times that things have been omitted from it and things that show up on a report that didn't happen. As far as I'm concerned, Car Fax is only part of the story. Someone like me could potentially buy a car with 60k miles, drive it for a few years racking up to 200k for this examples sake, and not have any events reported on Car Fax in the mean time. Then, put this cluster and LCM in and try to sell the car claiming it was barely driven in those years and that it actually has 80k.

No matter how you slice it, this guy really should NOT be selling this cluster and LCM to the same buyer. It's very irresponsible of him.

You are right that there are discrepancies and a lot of things can be omitted. Carfax is only a tool that gives more information than you would if you were just to take the word of the seller. On a carfax, a change in ownership would be on the list. With a new ownership, the previous history patterns on mileage wouldn't follow the currents owners status. But you are right that a buyer could buy these parts and fool someone.

I personally don't think its irresponsible of him. If he is irresponsible for doing this, what about a guy selling you a whole wrecked car? It has the LCM and cluster in there too. What prevents you from using those parts in your own car for the same purpose? Should it be irresponsible for someone to sell you a whole car because it has a cluster and light switch? It doesn't really make sense to make him irresponsible for something that could happen in multiple other ways.

Either way, its a shame the LCM can't be separated.

Buying a parts car would be pointless because it would probably end up costing more doing that than just taking the hit on the sale of the car. That is too much work for someone to go through just to be shady.

I don't see the difference between this and buying a used cluster and LCM separately and coding the LCM to match said cluster.
