It's been awhile since my last post. I've done some mods and upgrades. When I installed the Scorza CSL CF Center Console I didn't move the window switch from the door. I just installed another switch in it's place. I made a blank out of some ABS 1/8" sheet.

I swapped out the BC Coilover's for some Broadway Static 500S with Radial Bearings and 12K/16K Swift Springs. Also installed some Rogue Engineering RTAB'S and rear spring perch reinforcement plates. I went from the BC's with 8K/12K Springs to 12K/16K Swift Springs. I set the ride height at 13.25F and 13.0R. I was really surprised how well these ride with the stiffer spring rates.

Thanks guys...

When BP, John and Charlie were here during Veterans Day weekend we all went out to Nelson NV and took a ton of pictures. I submitted 4 of them for the 2018 M3FORUM Calendar. Two were chosen, one for the front cover and one for a month! Pretty sweet. Thanks again for the photos Charlie and a really fun weekend everyone.

I would say pretty effective. The tubing goes all the way down and hits the bottom of the oil pan and it has really good suction. I'm still going to do the regular oil change method here and there.

I decided to lower my spring rates on my Broadway Static 500S Coilovers. I had Swift 5” 11k (616 lbs) fronts and 5” 15k (876 lbs) rears. The car rides decent but as a DD I wanted a slightly better ride. I moved the 5”11k (616 lbs) fronts to the rear and bought a 6” 9k (504 lbs) for the front. I set the ride height at 13.5” front and 13.0” rear. What a difference, it rides so much better!

Thanks for posting the pics Charlie. I was going to lastnight but I was so dam tired from working out in the hot garage (110 Degrees ) for two straight days dialing in my suspension after installing these.

I set the ride height after swapping my spring rates to 13.5” F and 13”0 R. The car rode better but I was getting this hard hit on the drivers side rear. Got back home and found this.

Drivers Side

Passenger Side

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180725/72cc778148f61f904f113a0800a321c8.jpg

The drivers side spring has very little travel compared to the passengers side. So I basically removed everything and started over. What I found was interesting.

The under side of the control arm where the adjuster is bolted to is recessed and the washer that comes with the kit was bent inward. So I installed a bigger washer to avoid this from happening again and keep from breaking the control arm.

The Rogue Engineering reinforcement plates were bent towards the tire not the top perch.

I smashed the RE reinforcement plates flat again, bent the tab down so they stay secure inside the control arm. Then I fabricated some isolating shims out of 1/8” black ABS sheeting. These were installed under the RE plates and above the spring rubber damper.

I love your engineering solutions. Why are your springs bent though? They look like they're not sitting straight.

WOLFN8TR
07-25-2018, 07:29 AM
Basically because of my ride height vs the adjuster angle. It was way worse beforehand. I’m running a 5” 11k (616 lb. ) spring so there’s not much room for flex. This would more than likely fix this issue. But they are pricey ($280) and recommended only for racing applications.

Basically because of my ride height vs the adjuster angle. It was way worse beforehand. I’m running a 5” 11k (616 lb. ) spring so there’s not much room for flex. This would more than likely fix this issue. But they are pricey ($280) and recommended only for racing applications.

Rogue Engineer makes really good stuff. Those parts may be pricey but at least you will have some peace of mind knowing you won't have to worry about it for a long time.

Thanks guys! :thumbup

Thank You again Charlie for these Sweet Wheels!! I drove the car to work today, man what a difference in the ride quality! Nice and smooth, nice and quite!

Good thing I didn't go to work yesterday some crazy drunk BEOUCH was destroying cars in the employee parking garage at work! She was using fire extinguishers and stanchions to smash windows and kick in door panels etc, 40 cars total before security busted her!

Oh man if that was my car I would of been SICK!!! Work actually paid to have Satellite AutoGlass come out and replace all of the broken glass.

Ya I’m so glad I called in that day!

Thanks Fredo...[emoji106]

I was off work the week of the 4th of July and planned a bunch of car maintenance. Swapping spring rates in my BWS 500’s from 11k/15k to 9k/11k, new Koyorad Radiator etc. Well I snapped the adjuster rod inside my front damper like an idiot when taking it apart! It’s broken in the full hard position! [emoji849]

So I called Broadway Static about getting it rebuilt on July 3rd and was quoted $100 but 10-15 to get it back. I said how much for a new one? Oh that’s $120...DONE!! I paid them on July the 6th and still don’t have a damper!! UGH!! So I just emailed they and get this reply. I’m livid!! [emoji35]

I wish I could just buy some patience.

Ran into an issue with two of the front dampers. They apparently didn’t use anti seize when installing them, they are stuck inside the pistons. I let them soak in some PB Blaster for awhile to see if they loosen up.

Drove the Silver Grey (LoL) M3 yesterday to test out the new Turner RTAB’s. Immediately noticed the difference. The rear ended doesn’t wonder anymore under hard acceleration. It also feels like the suspension is functioning better overall. I know with the RE RTAB’s they do not allow for full articulation of the rear trailing arm. Well worth the cost.

I have some RE RTAB’s up for sale!

What are the Turners? Monoball?

WOLFN8TR
12-27-2018, 09:44 AM
Our sealed Monoball Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (RTAB) are the best solution for completely eliminating deflection and unwanted toe changes on the rear of the E36, E46, and Z4. While rubber and urethane bushings flex during load, the toe can change widely giving you nervous and unpredictable handling. These RTABs have a solid aluminum housing with a high-quality sealed OE bearing. These bushings were developed from years of competition use in various racing and HPDE events. There is simply no better RTAB unless your racing class rules prohibit the use of mono or spherical bearings.

The rear trailing arm bushings take a lot of abuse from acclerating, braking and cornering. The stock rubber bushings are just not up to the task of keeping rear wheel alignment in spec for very long, especially if you have upgraded to stickier tires and a better suspension. The pliable rubber flexes and twists which slows down reaction time and leaves you with a car that feels nervous and 'tail happy'. Urethane helps to control the alignment but issues with fitment, maintenance, and longevity keep us from recommending urethane on anything but a street car. We also offer a Delrin RTAB for cars that must conform to certain racing class rules. These sealed spherical bearings are the best at controlling rear toe alignment.

Our aluminum RTABs are very well made - high grade aluminum alloy and steel CNC'd out of a billet by an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer, each component is either hardcoated or nickel plated. While multiple manufacturers offer two piece designs, our research showed that a one piece bushing is a better design featuring a sealed bearing to keep contaminants out extending the life of the bearing.
Features:
Key Benefits:

Rear Trailing Arm Monoball eliminates unwanted deflection, maintaining alignment settings and minimizing wheel hop.
Allows full rear trailing arm articulation for low friction movement and eliminates binding found in rubber and poly bushings.
Completely streetable: utilizes an OES Lemforder brand sealed, greased ball joint for an extremely long service life with no increase to NVH.

Design Features:

Housing: Billet CNC 6061-T6 aluminum, type II anodized for exceptional durability and corrosion resistance
Bearing: OE Mercedes/lemforder 2043520027 Sealed ball joint
Bearing inserts: CNC machined 303 stainless steel.

I feel sorry for the ones who have never been educated about this setup and have been totally brainwashed that it’s a garbage system because of other’s strictly negative views, let alone experience it with someone who knows the system so well that they can share the advantages and the disadvantages. Nice fan and radiator! Something to consider though; at lower speeds and in traffic you’re probably giving up 20-30% of the cooling capacity without a shroud that covers the entire radiator.

Well thats not something I've noticed. Yesterday sitting in traffic and outside temp of 106 the car was right at 195 degrees. So far this setup works great!

I was having systems of a blown head gasket on my M3. My cooling system was pressuring within minutes of starting the car. The car runs great and doesn’t over heat whatsoever even with our 105 degree weather.

So I decided to take the cooling system back apart and inspect the orings and water pump gasket to see if they were causing the issue. I changed out all 4 of the orings behind the water pump with some Viton Orings. This fixed the problem.

Turns out ECSTUNING sent me two different sizes for the two orings on the small hard pipes, one 16x3 and one 18x3. The 16x3 oring was on the lower hard pipe that comes from the expansion tank and was sucking air causing the system to pressurize. It also caused major cavitation and was eating up the inside of my Brand New water pump and Tstat.

I wasn't too happy having to tear apart my entire cooling system again due to a undersized Oring but at least it wasn’t a blown head gasket.

Orings replaced are in Red.

It's been awhile since I posted any updates, here's some new additions. I finally got the Brembo BBK installed.

The front calipers were sent off to Rally Road for machining to remove 5.5mm off the mounting surface to fit the larger 345mm rotors. You have to swap the crossover lines and here is where I ran into issues. The line was cross threaded into the front caliper, I had to use an impact to remove it and it took all of the threads with it! UGH!! The biggest problem was it's one of the machined calipers so I had to be very careful repairing it or it would cost me another caliper and the cost to send it off for machining! I had to drill and tap the caliper to insert a helicoil Beings the port is tapered this had to be done without messing up the taper on the inside of the port. This consisted of making a jig so I could operate! Drill an oversized hole, dremeled the excess at the back, tap and then clean out the back again with the dremel so the bleeder will seat properly. Also the helicoil had to be cut as it was to long. Beings it’s SS and made with precision so you can thread a bolt into it made it very difficult to get it cut down just right. Talk about stressful but in the end it worked!

I was going to paint them a different color but the Red Brembo paint was in such good shape I decided to just keep them red and applied VHT clear. Baked them at 200 degrees to cure the clear coat. Went with some silver Brembo hi-temp decals. Also polished the crossover lines, pins and pad stops. "M3 now has 135k on it"

Ya the ECS guys really let me down sending mismatched Orings. [emoji35]

I have about 500 miles on them so far. The brake feel is better with an increase in stopping power and less brake fade when they get hot. To me the best part is the “Bling”. [emoji41]
