Reluctantly listing my Imola Red baby for sale. This is easily the best car I have ever owned, and has been an absolute joy since the day I flew to North Carolina to pick her up. However, I acquired the car at about the same time I started a career re-direction, and I have been working full time and going to school full time. In order to keep the ZHP in top condition, I also bought a DD, so my total lack of free time means the ZHP has not been getting a lot of use, so I think its time to let her go.

Car is not perfect, it’s 10 years old. The front bumper has rock chips. There are some spots on the hood where the PO did touch up paint. There’s a scrape on the air dam under a fog light from some highway debris. A couple of small indentations on the roof which can be easily PDR’d. But overall, the exterior of the car looks great. Imola is a fantastic color. I spent 3 days on a paint correction which was very successful – the shine is really deep. The factory wheels are freshly refinished in the darker anthracite gray, and I think they look incredible. The darker color hides brake dust, too. Interior is very good – leather is excellent, the alcantara wheel got a very meticulous Magic Eraser and sweater shaver rehab. It’s clean and in very good condition. Black cube trim – dash and console excellent, driver’s door shows some wear and scratches. Scratches on the ash tray door, some wear on the B pillar behind the drivers door – looks like a previous owner repeatedly took things in and out of the back seat. Car had a very dark tint most of its life, so very little interior fading. Oh, I also dropped the sub enclosure in the trunk, and did the tennis ball fix, which eliminated almost all rear deck rattling.

The car is well equipped – cold weather package (like all of them, the headlight washers don’t work), adaptive xenon headlights are fantastic, and fully functional. Don't know if BMW Assist still exists, but it has it. I added some options it didn't come with - Homelink garage door opener, factory alarm, aux input, XM satellite.

Mechanically, the car runs strong, shifts great, the clutch is good, the suspension is tight. It’s a joy to drive. Its always been adult owned and never been abused. It shows. I am not aware of any current maintenance needs. Last oil change at 112,050 miles, with Mobil 1 Euro, BMW oil filter, and Mann Charcoal Cabin Filter. The car also has a GAS 1.7 bar radiator cap, which brings the pressure in the cooling system down to what they are doing on newer BMWs. Driest engine compartment I've seen on an E46, not even any goop on the power steering reservoir.

I did both a Carfax and AutoCheck on the car before I bought it. It did show one minor accident when the car was almost new. I can’t find any evidence of that. I bought the car from a couple in North Carolina, and drove it back to Kansas City. They were not using it as a DD, so it was well taken care of. The car was originally sold in Kentucky. I don’t have complete maintenance records, but they did provide what they had. Summary of that info:

11/2011 90,250 miles Oil Service. New rear tires

11/2011 90,488 miles Front rotors, pads and sensors. Rear pads and sensors, Control arm bushings and brackets

4/12 93,397 miles Replaced thermostat assembly. Flushed cooling system

01/2013 102,622 miles Inspection II Service, Replaced VC gaskets, spark plugs, oil service, belts, air and cabin filters, wiper blades, brake fluid, replaced washer pump, replaced upper and lower intake boots.

04/01/2013 New Battery. This was right before I bought it.

When I got it home, I started doing some work on the car. I had it inspected by my indy BMW specialist. They gave it a clean bill of health, except the rear shocks.

O4/10/2013 New rear shocks, bump stops, mounts. 4 wheel alignment. Differential service. This was $1,000.

I started my project list which is documented here:

Car is beautiful, fun and I’m not aware of any immediate needs other than to enjoy it. It’s been well cared for throughout it’s life, and I’ve babied it quite a bit. Never driven hard, never out in bad weather. As noted, includes unicorn BMW Performance upgrades. Asking $12,250

I’m happy to answer any questions, and could arrange to show the car, or have it available for PPI. As I keep weird hours and seldom have a day off, it’s easiest to initiate contact through this site. PM me, and we can go from there. Thanks!!! Or contact at jgtoohey at gmail dot com

Thanks, Dane. Already having some pangs of remorse, but this car needs to be with someone who can take better advantage of it.

Bumping my Imola baby to the top. Spring is here, time to get a little more motivated to sell her.

Centrally located in Kansas City. Now to include fresh Mobil 1 oil change, and the dealer informs me, the new passenger airbag has arrived, so recall will be addressed.

Also will consider selling the car without the strut bar and intake. But not looking to sell those separately until the car is sold. THANKS!!!

Well, new Owner is flying in from New York on Friday to pick her up.

I guess its good news, but it also really kind of sucks. The prospect of life without Imola is a little scary.

At least the car is going to an enthusiast who will enjoy it the way it was intended. He was an intern at BMW corporate at one time, and currently owns an E36 M3. He found the car from this ad, but isn't a member here yet. I'm certainly recommending that he join. This is a great group, and its been a pleasure being part of it. I'm sure I'll continue to lurk until someday when the bug strikes again, and I find that Alpine White/Natural Brown, 50k mile unicorn at EAG
