View Full Version : Classing up the ZHP

Got the inspiration from a pic I saw on another forum.

Instead of the played out carbon wrap, why not try some classy wood?

I started tinkering with an extra set of trim.

I really like the way it came out so far. Still very sporty, but a touch more upscale looking. Reminds me of the factory black ash trim in my e60.

What do you think?

Ps. Also included one left over from an experiment when I had the alpine white Zhp. Also think it looks pretty cool!

What wrap is that? 3M? Looks pretty cool. Was thinking of getting my trim wrapped by Mike but would need to do quite a bit so haven't pulled the trigger yet. This might be another good option.

That looks a lot better then what I was expecting... I immediately thought of brown wood trim, which I rarely like. Great job!!!

Post up some photos with the pieces back in the car! :)

very subtle, bill - nice.

personally i think the cube is wonderful and also subtle, why mess with perfection? unless your trim is in bad shape, i guess. fortunately mine is all good. i have black cube and no plans to change.

Like it. I'm on the hunt for that black bmw wood for a vert and I'm likely never going to find it (forget the name). But it's got a lot of character and it's not that generic brown (nothing against it, but for our cars I like something more "sporty"). Nice werk.

Thanks all. It is not 3m, but they make a similar finish. I found on Amazon. Will post link later.

Will also post finished pics installed when I wrap it up

It looks like Con-Tact paper. I'm judging by the backing of the roll looks very similar to Con-tact. Very nice finish btw.

Thanks guys. I haven't seen a silver version of it. Not sure how good that would look as it is supposed to mimic real wood

How hard is it to wrap and make it look good? Seriously considering it.

Fairly easy to do.

Wow Bill, that looks incredible! Nicely done... I'm starting to consider wrapping the Piano Black in our X5, I can't stand how dirty it always looks...

that didn't turn out too shabby at all.

can you even tell its wrapped i.e. the corners/etc?

i was thinking about trying to pick up a piano black sedan trim set and give that a try in the ZHP and see how i like it but if this looks like its not even wrapped i may just buy any random set of trim and have it wrapped in gloss black.

Thanks. I might take you up on that. Maybe I could find some old brown wood trim to wrap (or whatever old color that would be cheap).

Would recommend wood. The black plastic trim I used to a bit flimsy, as you can see in the pic of the piece above my nav unit. It's sorta bowed out.

You can not tell it's wrapped. The heat gun allows it to stretch / mold around the corners so you don't see it 'fold' for lack of better terms. This stuff is pretty pliable.

Looks Great Bill. [emoji106]

3M DINOC is some really cool stuff. Charlie turned told me about this stuff a few years ago. I ended up doing the interior if my 2500HD in Black CF. They have several colors and I bought a 12"x60" roll for $40.
