For Sale: Update - lowered price - bought a new 2015 RAM 1500 Laramie 4x4 - gone to the dark side! 2006 Mercedes C55 AMG – $10,000 (MSRP was $54,620 new) - Canton, GA (north of Atlanta)
I purchased the car on September 8, 2012 to replace my 2006 BMW ZHP coupe that was rear-ended. I believe I am the third owner. The car had 85,338 miles when I bought it. Car has been my daily driver and now has 129,300+ miles. We now have multiple cars and my career has changed such that I travel and often I am driving a rental car – therefore offering the C55 for sale. Here is a link that describes the Mercedes C55 AMG :http://www.forbes.com/2005/01/24/cx_cd_0124test.html
The Mercedes C55 AMG was a competitor to the M3 in 2006 – I found this car in Atlanta while searching for a M3 to replace my ZHP (RIP). It is essentially a C Class stuffed with a 5.4 liter V8 with 362HP and 376 ft-lbs of torque plus upgraded brakes, rims-tires, suspension, special auto transmission with paddle shifters, and loaded with interior options with leather heated seats – it does not have navigation. It is fun to drive and the AMG V8 is specifically a blast to drive – merging in Atlanta traffic is not an issue.
The following work has been done on the C55:
• Automatic Transmission Service – 93964 miles – at MB Dealer
• Rear Differential Service – 93964 miles – at MB Dealer
• Software update – 93964 miles – at MB Dealer
• Crankshaft Position Sensor Replaced – 114252 miles
• Camshaft Position Sensor Replaced – 114252 miles
• Valve cover gasket replaced – 114252 miles
• Motor and Trans mounts replaced – 99020 miles
• Serpentine belt and pulley replaced – 121400 miles – Indie
• Front and rear brakes replaced – rotors and pads – Akebono Euro pads – March 2013
• Tires replaced – Continental ExtremeContact DW XL 225/40ZR18 and 245/35ZR18 – 98282 miles
• Oil changes – I change the oil myself 3000 to 5000 miles – Mobil1 5W30 High Mileage
Good:
• AMG V8 with 362HP and 376 ft-lbs torque
• Up to date on maintenance
• 20 to 22 MPG even with V8 and aggressive gearing
• Sleeper – just another C class in Atlanta
• Rare – only 4000 built (so I have read)
• AMG includes upgraded suspension, brakes, transmission, and rear end
Bad:
• Rear ended in traffic – center punch into rear bumper and trunk lid – professionally repaired
• Daily driver – rock chips, door dings, etc – nothing bad but it is not new
• Crankshaft Position Sensor is a weakness of this era of MB – I keep one in glove compartment
