Are these things really worth the money? I'm sure there are plenty of threads with the back and forth but it seems like y'all believe it is.

It really depends. I sold mine and now back on a stock airbox. I loved the noise it made but that's all I got it for. Since I installed a TSE3, I had no real need for it anymore and I figure someone else could enjoy it more than I did.

Is it worth the money? If it's priced under $400- absolutely. I love mine. Put's a smile on my face everyday. Here are some videos:

Derek,
As crazy as it sounds, the TSE3 is too quiet by itself. The intake just seems to really wake it up.

Lol. I think the tse3 is fine. I can hear it on the track and people don't think it's quiet on the sidelines.

Well I will be glad to purchase a Gruppe M intake from someone that feels the same way as Derek lol or else I will go with AFE

I loved the sound mine made when I had it, but I couldn't handle the additional whistling noise. I went so far as to fabricate a reproduction of the ECIS intake baffle, but it didn't quiet the whistling enough for me.

Here's a link to the baffle: http://www.ecisbmw.com/DMCart/product.php?productid=16203&cat=252&page=3

If you get the intake and want my baffle, let me know. The rubber elbow is like brand new (used less than 500 miles) and the whole thing is in fantastic shape. I'd give it to you for the cost of the shipping.

I went to AFE intake after the Gruppe M, but I was plagued with intake boot problems and I ultimately decided to go back to stock #becauses54 is in the future.

Cool! I was thinking about that but now I am leaning towards a turbo setup.

How different is the sound with a TSE3? No difference at all? I'm waiting on my axle back to ship here so I'm just curious

It transforms the sound. In addition to the amazing sound of the TSE3, you'll have the added benefit of a distinct GROWL throughout the rev range that makes the exhaust snarl.

Without my GrupoeM, my car sounds tame and quiet... I've become dependent on it for the car to sound good to me!

Use a different coupling and it will work. From a 2.5 to a 3.0 diameter coupling. Good luck.

TSE3 w/o headers rocks but it's loud (mine was on a BMW perfect intake). Guessing it should really growl w a Gruppe M

GruppeM CF intake installed yesterday at Maintenance Day. Special thanks to all once again for the Stett boot rodeo...

Promptly drove 500+ miles home, no issues. Didn't get a chance to play much as we were loaded down and cruising trying to make it back quick.

Despite having driven cars with the intake, each one before had a modified exhaust so mine was really the first time I've experienced it with the stock exhaust.

That said, I took the car out for a spin today and must say I am in love with this thing...

The sound is intoxicating when on the throttle even at lower RPM, it just comes alive with just a slight press of the pedal and grows with how hard you press! I'll try and get a video, but as when I was looking for one, the videos don't really do it justice.

Sums it up perfectly. Ever since I got mine installed, the car just sounds more alive! Definitely would recommend this to everyone!
