Hey all,

My name is nick, from north carolina. I just purchased an 05 bmw 330i, I love it! I haven't been into bmws for very long, but after getting to know a buddys at work I have fallen in love. I decided I wanted an e46, I had no idea what a zhp even was! After craigslist searching I found one (for what I thought was a good price, hopefully yall can verify) so I jumped on it. I also am not 100% sure it's the zhp (I'm a newbie). But even if its not I still love it! I'm a mechanic for a living, so hopefully I can network with you guys who know these things inside an out when I have an issue. But anyways, sorry for the ramble, thanks for letting me join!

Thanks for the welcomes guys! I need to do a couple things to the car, valve cover gasket, figure out why the low coolant light is on when it shouldn't be, and decide what new head unit to replace the factory nav screen with.

Welcome. Beautiful car. Certainly looks like a ZHP. Coolant light c/b a sensor. Look in our ICE section for NAV replacement options. What is wrong with your current NAV?

Thank you and thank you again johnrando! Yea I'm hoping it's a level sensor, and I'll definitely check that section out, thank you for steering me there I'm still feeling this site out! My screen comes and goes... everything works audio wise, and when the screen is on it works fine. But that's hit or miss, it doesn't seem repairable but idk.

Hmmm, hard to say on that one... it might not be fixable. The Dynavin started out as a very popular replacement, but since then Eonon and Avin (not sure on the spellings) are two units that are getting good reviews. Gary (wolfn8tr) knows those two both and I think he has a general recommendation as to which one is a good replacement but I forget which it is, lol.

Yea I've been looking into the eonons alot and I feel like that's what I'll pull the trigger on. I'll message him, thanks again!

Welcome, Nick. You will love this forum. May I ask how much you paid for this beauty ? I have a similar one, 2005 IR with 138k miles, 6MT.

YES. I paid 2X that for mine. Depending on condition, this is a fantastic price.

Whats the mileage? Anyone service records?

It has 148k miles. The seller didn't have service receipts. But she took it to a garage that reported it to carfax. Once I pulled that up I could see eeverything that had been done. One owner car and no accidents either.

Sounds like a really nice grab! Perhaps the seller didn't know it was a ZHP.

Yea that's what I've been thinking. But, I haven't been 100% sure it was one myself haha. But after researching on here and other forums, the telltale signs like the black window trim, red needles in the cluster, trunk lip, lower valence and M steering wheel I believe that it IS one. I'm extremely happy with it, it's got some knicks in the paint here and there and some curb rash on the wheels. Interior has some knicks as well and the factory nav screen is intermittent. But other than that she's gorgeous. I'm wanting to get a new head unit, and probably an intake for it for my first projects. Oh, but I need to get those headlight lenses clean first! They are filthy.

Welcome! Congrats on the new car. $5k sounds like a great price to me. It leaves you a lot of room to work on any glaring issues.
