Hey,

I am about to become a ZHP family member, so I wanted to introduce myself and get some advice (I have been reading as much as I can on the forum). I have been looking into getting a new-to-me daily driver, so I can garage my Cayman S during the winter and turn it into a weekend car, and finally landed on a 04 ZHP!

Year: 2004
Exterior: Black
Interior: Black Leather/Black Cube (I prefer this over alcantara)
Miles: 136k fairly good maintenance record
Automatic
Paint and Interior is great, just need to some TLC.

The first thing I plan to do is one give it a nice bath, clay, polish, seal x2, paste wax, liquid wax, plus trim work. Second is suspension, I was leaning toward the Bilstein PSS, but saw some people talk about BC Racing what do you all think? Also going to add some sway bars but saw some discussion between just adding front and not rear?

I dont plan to track it, I just want a stiff ride for my daily driving to reduce body roll as I am use to the Cayman...

Thirdly, well all at the same time really, some basic maintenance including the ECS Cooling System Refresh Kit - Level 3.

Looking forward to posting some pics after the wash...

I also do all my own maintenance/work on the Cayman and plan to do the same with the ZHP! I love to learn.

Welcome! I've always liked the Cayman, seems like a great weekend car. The ECS Tuning kit you mention seems pretty comprehensive. When I got my ZHP I bought a cooling overhaul kit from Turner Motorsport (link (http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1987-complete-cooling-system-overhaul-package-1999-2006-e46-323i-325i-328i-330i.aspx), which is 10% off this month) as well as their maintenance kit (link (http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1065-e46-325330i-maintenance-service-package.aspx), also 10% off). I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I can't really help you with suspension or the sway bar info, but there are plenty of people here who know and give you some advice. Good luck!

welcome! congrats!

i have a set of bilstein PSS waiting to go in... just trying to find the time. to me, it seems like the best setup for the money for a DD.

glad to hear you are a DIYer, especially with the cayman - let's see some pics! :)

will definitely post about them (and all of the other bits going in), when i get to them. trying to get it done next week, working a few hours each night. will likely be a 12-15 hour ordeal to install everything.

Welcome! I've been running Koni Sports for about 70K miles and still like them. They were my choice because there're adjustable.

I still haven't installed my set yet, hopefully someday soon, but do you by chance remember what stiffness settings you settled on?

Thanks all, I started a parts list and should be placing some orders soon! Spent some time this weekend combing over the car and giving it a good wash to become familiar with paint and work needed to do paint corrections. Here is a quick morning pic.

Since I moved to Tennessee hills three years ago, the fronts are at full firm and the backs are a mid range. :)
