I have finally decided to sell my beloved ZHP. This car was my sunny day fun car and always kept in the garage, so despite the PNW climate, it was hardly driven in the rain and never in the snow. Car has never been tracked and has been maintained very well. The body is in great shape. There are no major dings or dents. Mainly, a few small rock chips. No accidents, clean title. Wheels have typical wear and tear. Interior is in great shape, normal wear on alcantara steering wheel. Have nearly all maintenance records. I’m letting it go because I’m buying an M3 so can’t keep it. Still smells like new.

Options include:

Power/Leather seats
Aluminum silver cube trim
Harmon Kardon Sound
6 speed
Moonroof

Minor updates include:
Red clear red tails
Clear corners
Smoked sidemarkers
Dice iPod controller
Angel Eyes
Interior LEDs
Clear bra
Tinted Windows

Maintenance:

Routine oil changes yearly despite averaging around 3k per year 4/2015 (BMW Seattle)
Replaced Power Steering Pump 1/2015
Brake fluid flush 4/2015
Cabin air and engine filter replaced 1/2015
Valve Cover Gasket replacement 1/2015
Rear tires replaced 4/14 so probably has around 3k on them, nearly new Michelin Pilot SS
Passenger airbag replaced from recall, but driver’s side will need to be replaced but also part of recall

PM me if you're interested.

Agreed on both counts. Someone is going to steal that car from you at 13k.

EAG avoids a lot of stuff, sometimes without obvious logic. They won't touch an E39 M5 prior to 2002. The 2000's are definitely to be avoided, but the 2001 model year addressed its issues. Not sure what they don't like about '01's, but there's a reason there someplace. They also won't touch anything with an automatic or SMG tranny, with rare exception (ultra-low mileage "investment grade" car for instance). With the ZHP, what changes for '04? LED tails and MP3 capability on the head unit, that's about all I can think of. Doesn't seem to warrant avoiding them.

i THINK '04 brought the premium package to the zhp but could be wrong.

At this prince point i can definitely see someone buying and then flipping it for a profit.

hmmm. why are the 2000 M5's to be avoided?

There were changes to the piston rings for '01 that reduced early heavy oil consumption (many later cars also use a lot of oil, but I digress). Facelift in '01 added a lot of stuff - angel eyes, cells taillights, grey gauge faces, perhaps more. Might be some other mechanical refinements too.

I found two cars after a quick search which are the farthest things from collector's cars, and are somewhat high mileage considering EAG standards, so I can't really say this is 100% true, but for the most part 9/10 cars there seem to be manual.

I think the biggest reason is that 2003's are lacking the Premium features. No auto headlights, rain sensor/auto wipers, and lack of Premium Package options are probably the biggest reasons. Regardless, it would be a shame if the car in this thread went to them because it's rare to find such a clean car that hasn't gotten swiped up by EAG before enthusiasts get a chance at it for a reasonable price.

Thanks all for the feedback. I've been reading on this site for the last few years and tried my best to price it right while being able to sell it in a reasonable amount of time. I was thinking of selling it 2 years ago, but ultimately decided against getting a F30 335i because I just didn't think the new 335i was that much better. Ended up getting a Lexus hybrid as a daily commuter. Wow, underpriced huh? How much should I have listed it for? I'll still honor the $13.5k unless we're talking $20k!

I agree that it's underpriced, at least for your asking price. I think you could start around $15k and negotiate down from there.

For what it's worth, I live in the PNW like you and I bought my 2005 330Ci ZHP this March for $14,000. It had the following at the time of purchase:

Orient Blue Metallic exterior, Black leather interior
49,3XX miles
6-speed manual transmission
Neither the Cold Weather Package nor the Premium Package, but it did have fold down rear seats (all coupes), xenon headlights (all coupes), heated seats, and Park Distance Control (PDC)
Technically a single owner car (the guy I bought it from purchased it from the original owners a week before, with a $2k mark up).

Your car is pretty similar apart from the color and that its a sedan so I think starting at around $15k and working your way down from there is perfectly fair.

For some recent transaction examples with price and miles, see this thread: http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?16528-How-much-did-you-pay-for-your-ZHP-Data-Collection-Consolidation

Private party value is less than 10 grand for this particular car with these particular options in this condition, just FYI. Given that the actual market appears to be slightly higher than book value, I think the seller did an excellent job with determining the starting price.
