Hi guys,
I'm trying to do my OFHG but I can't release the tension since the grooves are all messed up[from whoever did the job last... or attempted to] . Is there anyway I can finish the job before fixing this? If not, how do I fix this?
Part #7 in this chart

that's not really anywhere you can get vise grips in either...
what i would do in that situation is:
1. pray
2. pound into the rounded-out hex hole: a slightly larger torx bit, or the next size up hex bit. and then try to turn - remember, this one is normal-thread so turn clockwise to relieve tension.\
3. replace the bolt entirely!
let us know what happens.

:/ best I could get since flash just produced an out of focus picture. I'm thinking worst case scenario I would have to buy an assembly, pulley and screw, (if I can while the belts are on) take the whole assembly out and use all other parts except from the old assembly except for screw and pulley. Thanks again for the help. was hoping i could just do this today, but it's alright.Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving/ black friday!

It looks like someone used a Torx socket the last time they replaced the belt. Two suggestions:
1. Get the correct sized hex socket and pound it in there with a hammer or whatever you can use to make sure it fully seats to the bottom. The bottom of that hex female bolt looks like it still has some edges.
2. You're not going to like this suggestion but trying to give you a bit of hope -- cut the belt off. That should relieve tension on the pulley/tensioner and without the tension maybe you can get that bolt to come out.
Good luck.

Clockwise relieves tension so I can remove the belt right? Does that mean I go counter clockwise to loosen the screw? Or do I keep going clockwise until I get resistance again? I hope I'm not being confusing with my wording lol

You're correct, clockwise to release the tension on the tensioner. And the bolt is a normal bolt, so lefty-loosy applies, turn it counter-clockwise.

4. commited to loosening the screw and made it out! Thanks everybody
