When I remove the ignition key, then open the driver side door, it the chime goes off as if I've left the key in the ignition. It stops when I close the driver door, but will not lock/unlock with the remote. Using the key in the door works fine.
Fuses all ok.
I swapped in a new ignition switch, but that didn't cure it.
Any thoughts?
Tia!

are you able to scan the car for codes? (a la PASoft?)

Just a basic OBDII reader, and it gives no clue.

Might want to get PA Soft to pull any BMW specific codes?
EDIT:
Found this thread with the exact same symptoms:

Post# 8 (from our very own ryankokesh (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/member.php?589-ryankokesh)) has a solution. Apparently, it was fuse 67. Did you try checking it to see if its blown? Try to replace it with a 10A fuse?

Bingo!! That was the culprit! Thank you!!
I'm on mac, so that seems to complicate the software set up.

I'll keep an eye on it, but that thread references a TIS about it with BMW recommending replacement with a higher amp fuse. However, '06 has a 5, not 7.5. I've left it at 5 for now and see if it trips again, then try a 7.5.
