Guys,
I have an '05 330Cic automatic with 55k on it that will down shift on it's own when going down hill, when I start to brake. Will not do it if I barely brake but will do it as I apply more & more brake pedal pressure. It appears that this is programmed into either the main ECU or the transmission ECU. Just a little annoying. It will up shift as soon as I start giving it gas. Anyone experience the something on their automatic?
Is there a way to by pass this down shifting?

This is normal function and I do not believe it can be changed. If it bothers you, perhaps try to put it into manual mode when going down a hill - it should hold the gear.

It does this so engine braking can assist with slowing down or maintaining speed.

I always thought that function was really cool. I'd probably be downshifting in those same situations if it was a manual. It seems BMW designed the thing to act like a manual. I like the way it rips through the gears and is pretty good at finding the right gear at the right time.
