Are these swappable: Sunglass Tray vs. Storage Compartment

I have the flip-out sunglass tray in my 2005 ZHP, no NAV: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-sunglasses-tray-black-e46-51168260312

I'm doing an interior refresh, and I was wondering if I can swap it out for the storage compartment: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-storage-compartment-e46-51168202188. Actually looks like they have it upside-down in these pix.

I have my aux plug in the row of buttons above the ashtray, and the sunglass tray hits the cable when it flips out. Storage compartment would work much better.

So, are they swappable?

Yes, the storage tray/sunglasses tray are interchangeable.

What BP said. Does anyone know why some cars came with sunglass tray vs a storage compartment? I've seen a handful with the sunglass trays and the owners have thought they came from the factory.

If the car came with factory nav then AC controls were relocated to sunglass tray area...

I was wondering the same thing, as I want to swap my storage compartment out for a sunglass tray. Any plans for your sunglass tray once you swap it out?

Verts came with sunglass holders for obvious reasons. :thumbsup

Looks like the sunglasses tray has less space than the storage compartment.
My sunglasses barely fit in the storage compartment as it is.
