"ZHP is a garbage option anyway- just some cosmetic upgrades with a different cam and diff to claw back some of the performance lost fitting those hideous and heavy wheels. Any 330 with a 3.46 diff will smoke a ZHP every time. The whole Mafia thing reeks of childish behavior." - anonymous

Why do you want an old antiquated Nav unit?

Truth be told, the Nav unit does suck and its pretty useless, but then again, I never use the Nav in either of my current vehicles. Its not about having it, I just prefer the vehicle with the unit in it. Its one of the "must haves" for me.

I do miss the ZHP, mostly just miss the simplicity and raw fun of the E46 with the MT. I'd love to have one again, simply for the fact that I can have something to play with and not worry about. I'd love to see my car again, own it again, but that'd never happen.

Recently I've looked at E46 M3s, but the pricing for a really clean one is astronomical. This car is cheap enough that it'd be an easy purchase, even if maintenance was needed...

I have a feeling this car is still for sale because of the miles and price.
It is a cash car at that mileage.

Yes... If it had 30,000-40,000 less miles it probably would have sold fairly quickly. I certainly would have been interested.

So 30-40,000 miles really is enough to put you off? At this age, 130k = 160k, same thing.

Price is a little high, but if it's been owned by enthusiasts that did adequate preventative maintenance, I'd feel comfortable buying it despite the miles.

Yes, especially with owning a '01 Z3 M54B30 with half the mileage of this ZHP. Too many things need to be done at 80-85,000 miles therefore this specific car is more than likely due to have it all performed a second time.

Exactly, so the maintenance isn't much different than a car with 30, 40, even 60k less miles...
A lot of cars don't get maintenance done at exact intervals so it's always safe to assume the maintenance hasn't been done if there aren't any records. I don't know about you, but if I buy a car without records, I treat it as though it needs everything it should have had by now. That would mean I'd have to treat anything with more than 100k on the same exact way as a car with 160k.

The added bonus here is that it was owned by an enthusiast, so more likely than not you'll have records to prove maintenance was done.

ELCID86
02-27-2016, 05:54 AM
I'd certainly consider it if I was looking. And I'd say $8.9k is the starting price...

Concour about a vehicle without records, replace everything, but disagree regarding there is not much of a difference between a vehicle with 30, 40, or even 60k less miles.

As a BMW owner/enthusiast & CCA member of twenty-three years, "enthusiast" owned can vastly vary. Having owned a multitude of BMWs during those twenty-three years I have learned that everyone's opinion as to "enthusiast owned" will vary and most certainly from mine.

VAbimmer

Keep in mind that we don't know how long it has been "enthusiast owned" either. Just because the current owner is an enthusiast doesn't mean the previous owners were too

At 65k, 75k, 120k, 160k, 200k, 223k miles, they all drive and sound the same from my Personal experience. Only difference in my opinion would be cosmetics/wear and tear. If a car doesn't have records, just put some funds aside and do preventative maintenance. Even if someone told me they just did an oil change, I'm still going to change it.

This. Having owned my car since 75k miles (now at 241k) I can say that due to the maintenance I put in, it rides and drives just as well as when it had 75k.

$8,900 for this car??? Hell, if I was looking to buy a ZHP and if this car's maintenance history checks out....damned right I would be buying this car!

For any car that has been well maintained...mileage is a number. If a person is buying a car to trade in at a later date, then perhaps they should be looking to get a newer gen BMW instead of an E46....just saying.

+1 I have purchased 4 x E46s ranging from 72k to 182k miles.

Both of my cars have over 170k on them and look brand new. It all comes down to how much are you willing to put into a car...
