Hi all,

I've been following Fonzi at dipyourcar.com for a while. Always have been considering getting my whole car dipped, but it never looked good enough for my taste. He's been working for a while now, to create a high gloss, peel-able product. And it has arrived, though I'd share. I always wanted an Alpine White Coupe with the Alcantara or cinnamon interior. Now I'm seriously considering it.

how durable is this stuff? i mean - what if you car gets scratched? or it starts peeling around the edge of a panel? (like a door)

For this particular process there are a total of 13 coats. 2 tack coats, 10 coats of the base color, and 1 wet coat of the gloss. This stuff is pretty durable. I've used the plasti dip products in the past and the hold up well. Its all about the prep work and the application process. If the car gets scratched it would just be the plasti dip product instead of the OEM paint. That's a win in my book. It also takes a lot to get this product to peel at the edge of a panel. If it does begin to peel, that's more of a sign of poor application.

I found a kit for $269.00. You can't beat that. I'm going to talk to a few local paint shops to see if they'd be willing be a guinea pig.

Here's a link to the website I found. https://www.liquidwrapdepot.com/AutoFlex-High-Gloss.html

That stuff looks really good, I just question the durability and life span of it. I'm definitely interested though. It would be awesome to have a Mystic Blue sedan for a couple of years and then maybe an Imola after that! I love my SG but switching up the color every once in awhile would be so cool.

I've heard about this as well. CarThrottle on youtube did a new Miata in Gloss Orange. Must say, the shine and quality seriously surprised me
