That car was at the Eurowerks show in Minneapolis a couple years ago along with the FMU 7 Series. Both awesome cars.

I was supposed to be in the back seat of the 5 series holding one of the strobes out of the window to light the FMU 7 series on that cover shot. It was taken in Vegas by Mike Burroughs, the same weekend that Vegas revoked my welcomeness in their city. My E46 also appeared in that issue of Performance BMW. The FMU velocity stacks are ridiculous.

Seriously though, I've got the OK from the bf to get one. Gotta stay at ~$30k, and it has to be 2007 or later. Has to have some warranty left, too, and red interior. Would love an Alpine White, but I'm pretty open to any color except black. (Love black cars but I can't handle the detailing.)

Not looking to buy one tomorrow, but probably this time next year I'll be cruising in one!

Oh, and btw, that was at he BMW Performance Center. Didn't get to drive it this time, as there was another group there, but I snuck back to the holding area and was pretending! Getting pretty good at making V10 sounds.

I have put lots of mileage on both the W211 and the E39 M5. I will say, as much as I love the M5, I would choose the E55 hands down. Much more powerful, handling is similar, much less common, and no throttle lag like on the M5! (I swear the E39 M5 has the worst throttle response)

Absolutely agree. The overall lines are similar to Aston Martin and Maserati, which of course makes it gorgeous! But for a lot less $$. 2013 prices are supposed to be around £55k or around $88k. That's some cheap badassery. However, it will not be in the performance range of the more expensive adversaries. But, at 300bhp w/ a NA v6 or a hybrid 375bhp SC version mated with a 95bhp electric motor, it wont be lacking in the excitement factor. The hybrid is said to be able to do 0-62 in 4.4sec.

Yeah it's probably the same. I had a conversation with the guy, really nice. he said there are 2 in the country and that the other isn't quite as nice. He said he recently repainted the car and once the paint sets, he's going to be putting m stripes on it i think?

Who does not appreciate a family sedan (think M5) with a honkin V8 (LS2 400+ hp). Also has decent brakes and with a few mods is a definate sleeper!

E46 feeling and whatnot with E90 styling is FTW in my book. I still think my e46 looks better than 90% of other cars and BMW 3-ers on the road. Except the ///M's & M-package e9x

Well said. I too felt the same about the E90 interior until recently. I have driven my sister's E92 more and more and really see the improvements BMW made over the E46, though lol there is a lack in a few places as well. Things like the interior lighting, extra 12V outlet, much improved wind noise to name a few. Though window switches in the middle and non driver oriented dash pisses me off big time!

They are pretty sweet. There are 2 in the Portland area, I've seen them at the BMW dealer. One is an Alpina too, the owner also daily drives a B7 Alpina!
