View Full Version : A question about dent removal

Posting here to see if anyone knows coupe bodies enough to diagnose this dent on the right rear quarter panel. Mechanic put it on my coupe accidentally: now we're looking at PDR to fix it. It's pretty difficult to open the rear interior panel for any access and before we do that, I'm wondering if anyone here knows: is this crease on the body a single layer of sheet metal or is it layered for strength? In other words: can it be worked?

My PDR guy is confident he can fix this if he can get at it and if it isn't a structural section.

I think creases are substantially more difficult to start with. That's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject.

They can also come in thru the wheel well by drilling a small hole from the wheel well. After finishing they silicon and put a rubber plug into the hole. In order to fix some locations that is the only option. The PDR guy who worked on my ZHP had to do that for a couple in a similar location on my coupe, and I was sure that he did a good job plugging the hole.

I'm pretty sure he'll go down by the window and will get 90-95% of it. May still be a bit visible if you are looking for it. Hope he gets it all!

That's a coupe, below the rear window. The only access is remove the interior panels or via the wheel well.

It turned out to be very easy to get access to the interior panel: two screws at the arm rest, pull out the door opening's and window weatherstrips a bit, and the panel (which is one piece, unlike how I understand, say, verts to be put together) can be pulled out to gain access.

The dent was pretty deep so my guy did what he could but couldn't get it all. You really have to be looking for it, though.
