There is conflicting information on the ZHP cams and whether the duration is 244 or 248. Nobody seems to have actually measured these before.

These specs can be helpful if you were to opt to have your cams reground to some more aggressive specs rather than buying a whole set, and whether your existing cams have enough "meat" to get to the new specs. In my case, I'm interested to know if the intake cam duration really is 248 with 10mm of lift. Because if it for sure is, I only need an exhaust cam to get the specs I want ;) But there is no concrete info on this. Only speculation and assumptions (which are bad, mmkay?)

If I had my VCG off it wouldn't be too hard to measure it, but would require a crank degree wheel and a dial indicator

Here's what the process looks like:

So anyone changing a VCG and feeling adventurous? :)

Yeah, they're not expensive but not really something the home mechanic has too often. :(

I have both of those but I'm not sure where the degree wheel is, I haven't used it in about 30 years. If I can find it, you guys are welcome to borrow them.. I don't think I can get them to you by tomorrow though... :)

sockethead, that would be awesome. I may take you up on that if nobody else is going to be opening their valve cover any time soon.

Sockethead, I'll PM you. I'm about to buy a dial indicator (probably good to have that anyway), but I feel a little guilty about buying a $25 degree wheel that will get used once and I'm certain I will never use it again... I'd rather throw away $15 to back and forth shipping lol

I dont suppose you have access to a degree wheel and a dial indicator do you?
