So I spent the weekend doing general maintenance on the car. Oil change, lower/upper intake boot replacement. Then installed an amp and 2 subs (10") in the trunk of my '01 330ci vert. (It was a tight fit!) Spent all Saturday, and a good portion of Sunday on it.

This morning on the way to work, got in an accident. Nothing major, dented fender. We were pretty much both at fault. He was a older Korean War vet, so I wasn't going to argue much.

Ahh, it never fails. :facepalm

I will try and post some pics later. I learned much about the non-hk 6-disc with Nav amp install.

Sorry to hear. Life is nothing but a series of ups and downs, the sooner you shake it off the better. Good luck with everything.

Jesse, it could have been worse. So, silver lining and all. Glad it was just a dented fender. Glad you're fine.

Definitely could have been worse. Glad to hear it wasn't. I had a really pristine black Toyota Supra in the '80s... did a bunch of maintenance, detailed it, and drove it half way across the country back to LA to visit friends and family over the holidays, and it got stolen just off of Hollywood Blvd. They found it about a week later totally stripped, it was a shell of a car. I still flash back to that the first time I drive after I detail my car! :-)

Sounds like my luck. The day after washing my '94 325is, it got totaled. Glad yours is minor.

Two days after we put SSR Competitions on our MINI, we totaled the car. All good luck.

Ahhhhh. I just wrote a reply and my firefox shutdown.

Anyway. Thanks for the replies, it definitely could have been worse. Dane when you say HRBT you mean literally in the tunnel? I bet that was a pleasant experience...

Here is my little dent:

And here are the subs I installed:

Like I said I have the non-hk with Nav and 6-disc. I didn't mess with the factory amp. Just tapped into a rear speaker (with a good line converter) for input and ran remote to the glove box. It sounds better but I have to do something with my midrange door speakers they are scratchy. Has anyone re-foamed a speaker? Like this:
http://www.simplyspeakers.com/speaker-repair-foam-edge-replacement-instructions.html
It would be cheaper, and with all the speaker fitting woes on these doors... I'm thinking about it, the cones seem fine. If I do I will post.

I would post pics of my new intake boots and the ICV and DISA cleaning, but those are kinda boring.

Thanks for the support.

The LED Eagle Eye Tail lights appear to be stronger than the material the trunk is made out of....lol.

That is just not what I picture when some says,"I totaled my car."
I always envision something more like this:

Yeah-- I've got quite a collection of, "totalled" photos. The aftermath of high-speed impacts is sobering...

Yup. '70 240Z, mint condition, in the left lane, car loses control in lane next to me and slightly ahead on the 110 freeway in downtown LA (no escape). Comes across my lane perpendicular, so I hit him like a "T", and we both run into the left lane "wall" (even though I slammed on the brakes). So, front and left side damage all the way down the car... insurance tells me its "totaled" and they pay me for it. It didn't "look" totaled, but for the insurance it would have cost too much to repair it. Problem was, this was in the '90s so no way was I going to find another car like that. John

The vehicle held up incredibly well. Driver would have had a chance if seat belted...

My brother's totaled car from the 90s. Going 65 on I-5, lost control, careened off the right shoulder, rolled over 3 1/2 times. Four of us in the car, 2 front people (him, me in passenger side) were not hurt. Were wearing seatbelts. Hanging upside down after the wreck, unbuckled the seat belt and "fell" to the roof. Two in the back weren't wearing seatbelts, but fortunately only a broken collar bone amongst the two. I don't have the pic immediately handy, but the rubber floor mat is sticking through the windshield like a cheese knife stuck in a cheese wheel.

I thought I would post some pic of a wreck that I was a passenger in at work in the monitor merrimac tunnel under the chesapeake ba. Shut the tunnel down from 2-6 pm. Seven cars involved and no injuries. Driver in left lane saw traffic braking hard to a stop and freaked out and turn right into our rear driver side tire and knocked the axle off the truck and that disabled our air brakes and we rode on two wheels to the bottom and ended up like this, ill never forget it.http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc407/johnmadd1979/download-3.jpg

Its amazing how little sense people have when behind the wheel. Then you add in some stupidity induced panic and end up with major traffic issues.
