If it was the 8-speed ZF box I would agree... heck, I'd choose that over a manual.

Unbelievable. The owner must have multiple cars to drive. No way I could have that car and only have 27K miles, even as an automatic...

danewilson77
02-10-2017, 07:40 PM
The back story from the owner:

"The back story is that I live near the dealer and used to stop by every Sunday when they were closed and walked the lot. As soon as I saw this car it was love at first sight. While it was quite a stretch at the time, my wife and I decided to buy it. We also had an SUV and a young son. I walk to the train station and take the train daily to work and the SUV always took the brunt of the daily driving. The ZHP was our special occasion car and I have driven it the 60 mile round trip to one of my work's satellite facilities every other week or so and on some road trips. I have always been a Dodge Challenger guy (70's) so when the new version came out I bided my time to get one. I ordered my dream car in 15 and that's now my baby. My son just turned 17 so we picked up another vehicle for him to use. He wasn't interested in the BMW which is kind of good because I sort of cringe at the thought of him driving it! So with the fleet of vehicles and all the insurance and other related costs, it really doesn't make that much sense for me to hang*on to the car and drive it even less than before. I am sadly ready to let it go. The car has been garage kept since new and never driven in the snow and barely driven in the rain. No accidents or bodywork. It really has not needed any service other than the periodic stuff. I replaced the battery a couple years ago with an OEM Bosch and just replaced the rear tires with new Michelin Pilot Sports. Precat oxygen sensor and both front airbags (recall) just replaced by dealer. (Really, 900 bucks for a pre-cat oxygen sensor, got me on that one!). Interior is excellent, including the driver's side bolster. Only blemish on the exterior is a little bit of rash on the bottom of the driver's side front air dam from a parking bumper. I am really picky and it doesn't bother me! *I'll clearly show it in the posting photos. I have never listed the car for sale. I am ready to let it go and look forward to seeing it go to a good home. I know the crew that is involved with your board is the right place to find that home and at the end of the day I just want to get this over with fairly quickly and in a way that both parties walk away feeling the deal was fair.

Thanks again for your help"

its very weird.. im assuming the car on here was sold for 18k since that was the last price it was lowered tk before being sold... now its being sold again for 24,999.

$7000 seems hardly worth the flip with all that back and forth...and having your money tied up while you wait for someone to haggle that price back down to 18k.....

probably not nor are they required to do so. it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth for some reason. just the general timing of it etc but what I think has no bearing on anything obviously. it takes a special type of person to be able to do things like this.. you have to have a "i give 0 F#$ks" mentality.attitude to do things like this and the like.

That should be a rule as far as I'm concerned. If your sole objective on this site is to prey on the for sale listings then that is different than the folks who sign up to actively contribute as members. I was hoping this car would go to someone else exclusively on zhpmafia...part of the fun for these transactions is the enthusiasm and threads created (the Estoril car, for example). Not seeing it relisted immediately. I mean, I hope they can get close to asking because I love seeing our cars valued high but that's a different story.

I am pretty new here, and this is an incredible forum. The best I have ever come along.

It almost saddens a bit to see a vampire among the crowd feeding upon the good will of others.

So many people post great deals around here a dealer can just look at the listings instead of doing the homework themselves.

So it goes I guess.

The car though, 25k is crazy monies! I don't think the low miles makes the car worth that much. I paid just under 10k for a mine with 85k and it is in as good condition as our 3 year old car. There are some really good ones out there it is not worth spending much loot on a super low mileage one.

Just my thoughts though

No.

Against my better judgment, I'm going to post what the PO sent me after reading this thread. I figured we could learn some lessons from it. Car buying and selling is not always an honest business with the utmost integrity. We all know that. I am purposely leaving buyer and seller names off of this post, to ensure anonymity and it doesn't really matter specifically who bought, and is now selling this vehicle. DTA.

'Hey Dane,

You know, I suspected that was going to happen. He had the title put in their name because he said his brother worked at the dealership and was going to set him up with a warranty. It screwed us up on the transfer since the title/tag place wouldn't provide a temp tag since the car wasn't titled to him. Against my better judgement, I let him keep my tag to get the car home. He did mail it back. I am happy with how it worked out because I didn't want to sit on it forever and deal with lots of knuckleheads. I am annoyed that he still felt the need to get $$$ off when he got here and the BS about the car being for his wife. Glad in principle I only conceded $200. I assume the dealer has put some money in it (front tires, fluid flush/replacement)and offers some sort of warranty?? It will be interesting to see how quickly it moves at that price. Cheers,"

In a corny way, I felt honored that my M5 was worthy of being in their inventory. And I now understand why they have such an amazing and respected business.
