I had been watching this before I found my ZHP. The dealer only recently added a price to the ad. Unfortunately there are still no pics. The price certainly seems right. Checked the VIN and it seems to have all the ZHP check boxes. Style 135 wheels, sport suspension, anthracite etc... I have no interest in it myself so I wanted to pass it along here.

For that price, who cares? :)
Whatever it needs, I'm sure it won't take thousands of dollars to fix it. It is being sold by a dealer after all, so it's driveable.

Lol so you'd think...

I've worked in the business too long to trust anyone just because they have a dealers license.

You don't check the car out before driving off the lot and it has major issues... guess who cares?

Not them.

Someone in the neighborhood should stop by to check out.

This goes without saying. As long as the motor and tranny shift fine, it shouldn't have any major mechanical issues that can't be fixed. That's what a PPI is for.

The price looks low purely based on mileage, as these cars are worthless with high mileage. "How bad can it be" comes to mind. Do your due diligence and you could walk away with a cheap ZHP.

Did y'all notice the free Carfax link in the Autotrader ad? It was a California car until 2010, has an accident-free history (at least as far as being reported to Carfax, which is not infallible, but still a good thing), and the title is clean. Jeez, that's a lot of positives for a car selling for so cheap. Somebody needs to put a couple o' eyeballs on it!

Exactly. You can't go wrong with this price if there isn't anything majorly wrong with it. Perfect daily for someone who spends time commuting.

^ "can't" go wrong...?

I agree. Probably in better shape than my car!

I still don't trust it. Call me crazy, previously burned (you all know my E46 M3 story) or just well educated from being in the business. Dealerships don't just give away cars cheap. If this was a $10k example or even needed just a couple of small things it would be priced accordingly, at least initially - I realize the miles are high but that should still be a $5-7k car. This low price is indicative of something being blatantly wrong up front and them not wanting to address it so the price is set where it is.

I'll bet it's a bad trans or lots of paintwork. No photos is pretty suspect.

This car has been listed on craigslist twice already this summer. The first ad was posted as a woman needing something more reliable to haul her kids around, and now it's being listed by someone claiming to have "been working on cooling system and all.."

If I had the room I'd consider buying it to part out, but there's no way this car doesn't need a new motor.

The condition in ad is "good." Just my 2 cents.

Now I'm curious. What makes you think it needs a new motor?

The current owner bought it less than 6 months ago, has done "cooling system work", and is now selling for $3k. If that work was successful, he would have either kept the car or priced it higher.

My guess: the car was bought to flip for a few bucks after a cooling system overhaul, but the owner found out the head is warped and the threads in the block have stripped and is trying to cut his losses. Just an educated guess, but it's a little too far (~2.5 hours) for me to go check out.

Either way, I wanted to update this thread so that anyone who saw the craigslist ad knew this car has already been sold at least once this year.
