I've noticed that my Zhp occasionally makes a rattle sound coming from the transmission when I'm just idling the car in neutral with the clutch pedal up. As soon as I depress the clutch pedal the noise goes away. Other times you won't hear anything even if my foot is not on the clutch. I've had it rattle like in the video posted below and as soon as I drive the car about 10 feet and plop it back in neutral the noise will be gone. Car seems to shift fine throughout the gears except for the occasional notch into first which I would attribute to the original 85k mile fluid. Also, the sound Does follow the engine speed if you listed closely in the video, if that means anything. Does anyone else have this issue or know what it might be?

I've heard a few ZHPs do this, mine included.

How would someone wear out the flywheel in 85k miles before me?

Similar sound to a worn throughout bearing.

I you push the clutch in, does the sound go away?

Release clutch pedal very very slowly (in neutral, stopped), does the intensity of the sound decrease?

Release clutch pedal at once (in neutral, stopped), sound is more intense?

Anyway, that is what mine does and has been doing for >40K miles. No issues so far.

I have the same thing. I replaced the flywheel, clutch, and throwout bearing with no difference. I've had the car since 99,000 miles and now have 191,000 and no problems.it is nothing to worry about.

Are you sure, Peter? I'm trying to figure out how a flywheel would be so worn when the original clutch still has tons of life in it. Mine has been doing this since I bought it at 75k miles and I'm still on the original clutch and flywheel. The noise hasn't gotten any worse.

Could it be something else?

My car makes the exact same sound. 05 ZHP with 150k and the original clutch. Curious as to what it is. I just assumed it was the throw out bearing or flywheel?

Mine has done this the 70k+ I've own the car (bought it at 74k, almost at 150k) now. Dealership i took it too back in the day when it was still under the CPO warranty said it was they throw out bearing, but that the clutch was fine and if you were going to replace the t/o bearing you might as well replace the whole thing. Well that was probably around 90k and I didn't do anything and my clutch and transmission still works fine. I wouldn't worry about it. When I do the clutch/flywheel/TO bearing I'll hope it goes away at some point.
