Sorry guys, I just can't seem to find any guidelines on here about diff/trans (6MT) flush instructions. I know they exist here, I just apparently can not use a search button properly...

Much appreciated.

Trying to get all fluids changed before AutoX.

For Transmission, there is an 8mm drain plug and fill plug.
Unplug, drain, and use a fluid pump to pump back in the fluid till it overflows beyond the fill plug.
Make sure to have the car leveled to ensure proper draining and filling.

Similar for Diff, except it is a 14mm drain and fill plug.

I just did my transmission fluid on Friday.

Remove the fill plug first! That allows you to make sure that it can be removed. Last thing you want is to drain all the fluid and then realize that the fill plug is stuck and you have no way to fill your car back up with fluid!

That's a good point. My california car doesn't have these issues.. lol

Thanks guys,

So get two quarts of D4 ATF and follow procedure outlined by Derbo? Will I need more than two?

You need about 1.8 quarts for transmission fill. And 1.2 for diff. So yes get two bottles of each

Do most of you use ATF? Or MTL/MT-85/90 like me?

"ZHP is a garbage option anyway- just some cosmetic upgrades with a different cam and diff to claw back some of the performance lost fitting those hideous and heavy wheels. Any 330 with a 3.46 diff will smoke a ZHP every time. The whole Mafia thing reeks of childish behavior." - anonymous E46 fanatic

I used Red Line MTL for the transmission and Red Line 75W90 for the differential

So far I like the ATF. It shifts a lot smoother for daily driving. I have no idea how it compares on the track and extended use yet.

What did you have in there before?

Thanks. I get a bit of a "catch" on cold mornings with 2nd and 3rd. Maybe I should swap it seasonally with my tires!?

Same for me when it gets really cold. I usually end up revving in neutral like an idjot.

thanks I made the change and it feels better in certain aspects but the same in others. When its really good its really good, but when it really cold theres only a small difference in performance, maybe none.

Still happy with the change.
