2003 330i ZHP
160k miles

Battery sticker shows 04/10
Starter was replaced around 04/2013 at ~100k miles (P/N 12 41 2 179 001)

Yesterday evening I tried to start my car and just got a single 'click' sound when going from position 2 to start. It doesn't get past that point with at least a dozen tries. The headlights, accessory lights, etc. seem to work fine with no dimming. With the car off, a voltmeter shows 12.3 volts at the battery terminal and the same with the jump points in the engine compartment. OBD voltage test (option 19 > option 9) shows 12.2-12.3V and dips to 11.9V when trying to turn the engine.

The battery was tested with an Interstate ED-18 and it said that the battery was in good condition with higher CCA (using the built in IR thermometer) than what's listed on the sticker.

I can push start the car and drive 10-15 miles with no issues.

What other things should I check? I'm OK with push starting the car for the time being but I only have half a tank of gas left.

I've read about having a bad key, EWS, clutch safety switch, etc. but if these were the case, I shouldn't be able to push start the car, right?

Try a jump start. If it starts that way then you know it's the battery.

Betting on the clutch safety switch if the battery is ok. I suspect that a bad key or ews would not start under any condition.

I'll second the clutch safety switch suggestion. Also check for corrosion/ loose battery terminals? I've experienced similar symptoms on other cars where the terminals were corroded... Cleaned the terminals and the problem disappeared.
