View Full Version : Takata Class Action Lawsuit - Anyone else get a postcard?

I got a post card in the mail this week informing me that I may be a member of the class action. It lists autoairbagsettlement.com and a phone number. Anyone else get one of these? Is it legit?

I sure as heck don't want to give my personal information to just anyone; especially since both mine have been recalled and replaced.

Who're they trying to sue? Takata's going under/being bought out.

I haven't received mine, might have been delivered to old house. Regardless, I don't really see a point in filing unless you were physically affected, Takata has enough on their plate lol

It would be pretty hard to sue if you are affected, you know... considering you'd probably be dead...

Did anyone bother to read it? It's about a fund to reimburse out-of-pocket expenses related to the airbag recall, like having to pay for a rental car while the car was being fixed. I wasn't out anything as I got a nice loaner while mine were being replaced (both of them - I had the E39 M5 at the time and it had to be replaced too). So I shitcanned it.

Yeah, I figured I didn't need to worry about it since BMW replaced mine for free and gave me a loaner as well. Mine is going in the garbage as well.

I got one too. In order to be eligible for this class action settlement you have to have taken your car into the dealership AND had your airbags replaced. I think its meant to encourage owners to take their cars in. I don't think that is the major/only problem though.

I have been to a couple different dealerships 2-3x about this issue and each time they tell me they don't have the airbags in stock and they'll call me when they do, and they never do call.

I think that part needs to be addressed. There are still people being turned away from the repairs.

Did not get one. Don't think I need to sue for 5 miles worth of gas. :)

I did not get a card but then I'm not too worried about this since both of my cars have had their airbags replaced as a result of this recall...

What dealership did you have yours done at? I need to try your dealership.

I got my card months ago and have yet to bring it in. I know this recall was for the driver side front airbag. The comments in this thread mention multiple airbags. Which airbags does this recall effect?

There was also a recall for the passenger side front airbag that happened before the driver side.

Yeah I got the card, but I've already been taken care of. Especially with having the loaner/rental as long as I had.

Wow is this just another attempt to get an entitled $5 more out of a company who is bankrupt?

Yeah BMW was great in replacing affected products. It might have took some time for most and maybe a few cars out of the tens of thousands received a bit of unsatisfactory interior care while changing out the airbags, we get a safer vehicle! I believe there are some manufacturers still in denial so I hope they see the light.

I guess you can't make everyone happy and that's what ruins it for the people who are grateful and now we must spend our hard earned cash on more expensive products do to "legal" R&D so those few can't take a company down to its knees financially.

Now about the E46 rear RACP.....[emoji23]

We're a litigious society. Doesn't surprise me one bit this suit exists.
