The other week I noticed that the starter was struggling, it was still turning, just not with its usual vigor. I didn't get any dash lights so didn't really worry about it. A couple days later everything was back to normal. Then, Sunday, the starter was struggling again. Barely got it started to go pick up dinner. As I was driving I cut the engine twice and twice it failed to restart without me popping the clutch. After leaving the car running to get my take out I got home and broke out my volt meter.
When the car is off the battery is reading 12v. When I roll started it it read 13-14v, when I was trying to start the car it still read 12v.
The battery is effectively new, alternator and starter as far as I'm aware are original.
So my question in two parts. Is this a starter, alternator, or battery problem, and what other things should I go ahead and replace while I'm tearing into the engine?
