Wanted to note that I successfully installed on my zhp that had a non-dimming mirror, with sos and alarm. After reading many threads, all I had to do was disconnect the bmw assist module in the trunk and reroute one wire that would normally would be used for the stand alone homelink module. Eazy peazy!

So what does it take to install on a zhp?

Roughly plug and play for non-dimming mirror, no BMW Assist, non-Premium Package cars.

That's a good price, I paid closer to $130 for mine.

Thanks. What about for a regular non BMW Assist dimming mirror?

Should be plug and play as far as I know. I had to tap power for mine because my factory mirror had no power beyond the clown nose.

So this should plug and play in my '04 sedan? No extra wiring or what not to make the auto-dim & compass function?

I don’t think there should be extra wiring. If you do need it, it’s a single tap to the brown wire in the overhead light area.

more than likely you will still need to repin/rewire your mirror plug. the homelink compass needs 3 things to work...

- constant 12 v power and ground for alarm LED
- ignition power and ground for everything else.

that is the basic gist.

tje e90 mirror is pinned differently for those items than your stock mirror plug wire pins. the plugs are the same but pins are just in different locations.

follow this guide. very easy and an hour or less of work.

Thanks, that is one guide I referred to.

I did take the lazy route and just disconnected my assist module in the trunk instead of removing the assist wires at the mirror connection. Made it super easy.

Hey do any of you know if the homelink in these mirrors work with the newer Chaimberlain or Liftmaster garage doors that use SecuriLink 2.0, or whatever its called?

This mirror came from a 2011 328i, don't know about Securilink 2.0 though sorry.

Those mirrors are very tempting. I have a standard non-dimming mirror and considering to do this retrofit.
