View Full Version : "Sport" button will not work

Hello all,
I just purchased my car 10 days ago and I am still figuring it out. The previous owner said that it is Shark tuned but he didn't have the module so I can't prove it. The issue I have is that the "Sport" button does not respond when pressing it. No light and I can't notice any difference. Does Shark tuning disable the Sport button? Is it common for the buttons to fail?
Any advice or direction is appreciated.

Hi and welcome. The ZHP never had a sport button- that was only for the M3. The PO may have done the sport button mod wired to the shark injector so that it looks a little bit more factory-looking. I've only seen it done with the sprint booster in the past. Many have said in the past they only give a placebo affect.

First, the sprint booster is 100% not a placebo. It absolutely makes a difference in how the acceleration feels. Instant pedal response vs. lag. It does not make the car faster, but throttle response counts for a ton. I wired my SB button to my sport button thanks to William for implementing my idea - (I claimed credit for inventing that idea btw. :) ). But, as said, a sport button is not standard on the ZHP (you switch out the panel buttons with an M3 panel that has SPORT on it), so that would have to be wired to something. Now, from what I know of the Shark Injector, it's a tune so it's not something you turn on or off, so hitting a sport button would not do anything. I could be wrong on the shark, as I had/have a different tune.

Sorry didn't mean it that way. What I meant by placebo is that because some people don't feel anything and he felt like the sport button wasn't working, I wasn't sure what his expectations of the sport button actually were.

The Shark Injector is flashed onto the ECM via the OBII port then removed. The Sprint Booster plugs into the gas pedal and comes with a small switch- Off, Green and Red if you have version 2. John and William designed the Sport Button Mod by wiring the SB V2 into a M3 console switch with the Sport button. This works really well. Either your switch is bad or a wire came loose. Check all the connections down at the pedal first as its easier access.

Thank you for the replies. I'll check connections and go from there. I'll most likely modify it at a later date.

Your button probably isn't wired to anything. This can happen when someone swaps in a panel from an M3 as a replacement and never uses the Sport button (because it doesn't do anything in non-M's)
.
I think new button panels come with all the buttons even if you don't have the option, though I could be wrong on this.
