Well guys my zhp just hit 52,000 miles and is 100% stock just put new wheels on it and gloss black grill. What should I do next.
LSD, angel eyes, dinan?

I’m bored and have money to spend on it but don’t know if I should just keep it stock.

What do you guys think.

Maybe I’ll sell it and get more of a project car

Refresh the suspension components if it hasn’t been done yet.

That's a good looking coupe! What you do always depends on your goals. But most importantly, I'd make sure maintenance is up to date. The best ZHP is a well maintained ZHP, IMO.

I'll always suggest a suspension refresh. My shocks were toast at 50k miles. Here's what I did to get an "OEM+" suspension refresh: http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?16182-Help-with-Suspension-Refresh-at-50k-miles-10-years

EDIT: San beat me to it.

I'm all for getting new interior pieces. I hate the look of a scratched center console and lower steering wheel trim

Assuming no maintenance issues or needed refreshes, I'd drop $200 for a used, shorter ratio differential (3.38 is generally recommended); however, if you want to spend an extra $1,500 to optimize your traction, go for an MFactory LSD (while it's out, you may also want to opt for a Z4 cover for another $150). After that, I would go with some APEX wheels for about $1,000 (I like a square set-up, but that'll cost you at least two new tires). I'm sure many people would say go with the wheels first, and it is a tough call, but you will notice the extra torque from the shorter gearbox more than the lighter wheels (although they are great) and, if you go the open diff route, it's a lot cheaper.

The little things I notice a lot are the CDV delete (much better clutch feel, $0), the TMS pedals (soooooo sharp, $150 including dead pedal), and the Wheelskins steering wheel cover (very nice, $60)--in that order.

Yeah I agree about the scratched interior pieces :/ hate it. I currently do have the apex fl5 wheels just put them on. The suspension seems great. I looked into it. The car overall is in great shape. I think the LSD is next going to look more into it

I don't have any data on how various 330's stack up against each other, but that might be a reflection of the automatic's shorter gearbox, which would strengthen the case for doing the same. Now, I'm NOT saying the shorter gearbox will necessarily get you to 60 faster but, in a given gear, it will pull harder, and it will get to higher speeds more quickly.

LSD + wheels would be my recommendation for most noticeable performance gains. also a good tune.

I have a 3.38 rear end sitting in the garage waiting for a free weekend to go in the car. My rough math told me that it would result in ~10% more torque to the wheels, so making the stock 222 lb-ft feel like 244. Is that the feeling you got with the 3.38?

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI think all auto transmission non-zhp 330's. They have a sticker on top indicating the ratio. I got this one on eBay for like $150 shipped from California. It has almost 200k miles on it, but I just wanted something with the right input flange that I could swap in to see how I liked it.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180618/4875064cf7e9bddaed000729b380e30a.jpg

If the 3.38 doesn't bother me on the highway, then I have a 3.46 from a 325i (wrong input flange) that I'll send off to MFactory to do their thing.

Reasoned1
06-18-2018, 10:07 AM
That is exactly right--10% more torque to the wheels, but I daresay that's equal to 25% more fun!

Most people say, and I'm willing to agree based on my experience, that 3.38 is the perfect final drive gear ratio (3.46 is practically the same) for our NA engines as it boosts torque at the wheels significantly without significantly increasing cruising rpm or compromising useful top end speed, That said, I would love to try a 3.64 or even shorter diff sometime.

It is centrifugal. I can't speak to the supercharger itself but I have heard some people with AA tunes that were having AFR issues. Seems to be commonplace with any unit though. If someone sold good tunes they could really make a name for themselves.

Sockethead

The problem is every car is different. Any car that is getting boosted should have the AFR measured as a precaution if nothing else. I've had a hell of time getting the AFR dialed in on my car but that's mostly the tuner's fault for not listening to me

Really? Then definitely go for the SC. If you go down that path, I'd definitely get a dyno run with AFR for safety's sake before you go around town at full throttle. There is always that chance that AFR will be too low and cook the motor. I think AA has a dyno onsite
