No affiliation, but this popped up on my automated search. VIN search (PD98959) shows it's a real ZHP, with Nav, heated seats and lumbar.

"Seller's Notes
This is the BMW 2005 330ci performance package. The check engine is currently on and has three codes from the mechanic p2227, p0171, and p0174. Also the back seat behind the passenger has a blue stain from a melted crayon. While this car is a little rough around the edges it is rare and so much fun to drive, handles great!"

Wow - that sounds too good to be true - only $3k for a ZHP with 98k miles? Must be something major wrong with it. The codes he listed are all vacuum leak related AFAIK...not enough to lower the price $5k+ from where it ought to be.

I see what's wrong with it. Front Wheel Drive conversion!

They probably just don't want to bother fixing it. Occasionally I see ads like that.

I get more skeptical each time I look at the ad... The phone number is a Pittsville, MD exchange; plates on the car are NY, and it's located in Trumbull, CT. :shifty

edit: also no pics of the sides of the car...

Where does it say Trumbull? If it's that close, I can check the car out for anyone interested...

Can’t see it now that I’m looking at it on my phone, but it said the town somewhere on the Cars.com website.

You're correct Chris. But on the Cars.com site I had to click at the top where it says "← Shop other Used 2005 BMW 330s"

That showed the seller as David from 06611 (Trumbell). Of course the only other listing that comes up also lists the same Zipcode

Something smells fishy on this one. $3K with 98K miles needing a MAF (maybe). Rebuilt title maybe?

Damn that’s in the ballpark of me needing a third 2005 SGM ZHP MANUAL COUPE

"While it is rough around the edges..." yeah i bet, i wouldnt be surprised if the "rough" part is on the right side of the car either. Otherwise 3k is an amazing price.

I live nearby and I'm it the market so I have reached out to the seller. Will post any updates of note.

Surprised the owner even knows its a ZHP. Tell him it's not FWD (from his cars.com listing)

I told my brother who lives not far away to check it out… He called the guy to ask him for more photos…Got none. Texted me a little while ago and told me it’s sold already.

Dude probably spent $2k on the paint.

Something smells fishy on this one.

It was the crayon in the rear seat.

Chris - but he does say "mint condition (Negotiable)" - so can you negotiate if it's mint or not?

Man for $3k I would’ve honestly considered flipping it.

Those are the kind of prices I look for to make a dedicated track car. Such a shame you can’t run ZHPs in SpecE46...

Why though?

Because of the motor having +10 hp.

Correct, although with all the mods permitted it kind of negates that 10hp in my mind. SpecE46 also allows whatever OEM diff you want, which hardly seems like a “level playing field.”

That actually is a tactic potential. They'd have to make the choice between longer gearing or shorter gearing based on what track they're on. "Choose wisely".
