Hey all, can you guys give me a part number, or a name for this. It's a sensor housing of some sort. On the passenger side. Connects to lower rad. Looks like one part that's permanent attached to the hose. 05 330i zip 6spd. Thank you :)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181119/e2a6ddcbeeef7a9695f238ff8c3aff08.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181119/bdf7c5b9565c2490c594fac5a8d4731e.jpg

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using TapatalkAnswered my own question. It's the lower rad hose. What brand is a good replacement?

For hoses I went with OE BMW parts...

Wow, one bmw wants 344.02 plus 9% tax for upper/lower/ t-stat/sensor. That's pretty expensive.

Rein I believe is the OEM supplier.

Just checked, they are.
I avoid Genuine BMW parts whenever possible as they have serious markup.

Rein is a good option for the hoses. But use a genuine BMW t-stat and fluid.

FCPEuro wants $66.29 for the genuine BMW part 11531436408 & $41.19 for the Rein part. With their lifetime replacement either hose will be the last you'll pay for.
BMW list price is $81.53 & you'll find it for ~$56 from dealers with internet sales depts.

I won't ever buy from FCP again, they dicked me pretty hard many years ago.

ECS has always down my right in the past with my vw/audi parts. Plus they have good prices on Rein parts. 126$ plus tax for Rein upper lower hoses, Rein t stat, Febi temp sensor, and bwm coolant. Or $175 to change the Rein t stat to a BMW t stat.

Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using TapatalkHa I don't think so. Could happen, but I've probably spent 10k with ECS in the past, never had a bad order. Unless in the past 4 years they have gone drastically wrong.

Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using TapatalkLol, I don't have Facebook. I'm guessing your hate of ECS, is as deep as my hate of FCP.

I had to leave my car on blocks, 2 counties away in my buddies garage for 10 days, because of their incompetence. I then had to bum a ride back home, and then find a ride back to said garage to do the whole job over.

Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using TapatalkCan you state an actual reason(s) or give me a link or two, as why to only buy genuine BMW Thermostat housing? Are non-OEM thermostats faulty? From my readings, the cooling system is a 10 year deal, why spend up to 66% more, for the same results.

Genuine BMW parts have a two year warranty. My car is a mixture of genuine BMW parts and OEM supplier parts: Bosch, Lemforder, Rein, etc.
Don’t forget to get an O-ring for the temp sensor in the lower hose.
Also, a little silicone lubricant on the O-rings inside the hose ends will make everything go together much easier

Genuine parts are manufactured to BMW’s spec whereas other might not be. One of Vas’ cars did not have genuine bmw cooling system parts from the PO and they went bad within 30k miles I think. The life of the cooling system is not just dependent on its age but also duty cycles and miles...

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkAren't the BMW cooling system parts not that great? They seem to be the weak link. So maybe other reputable manufacturers remaking BMW's parts not quite to BMW's spec may be a good thing? That's kind of where my head goes. As long as the mechanics work, should be good to go. It would take me around 8 years to hit 30k.

Now if we were talking an expensive critical part like a timing chain, or cams, ect I would want to use BMW parts, unless their is a superior aftermarket part available.

I had this kit from ECStuning

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assembled-by-ecs-parts/ecs-cooling-system-refresh-kit-level-1/ecse461711-1~3/

Within 30k, the water-pump started weeping, Thermostat was stuck closed which made the Upper coolant hose balloon up and the expansion tank fitment was just crap. I purchased it before those reviews were on the site as well.

The BMW cooling system parts are meant to be changed in intervals. If you go past it, that is when people have issues and state that the factory design is sub-par.

The BMW parts aren’t as good as they should be for sure. But if the aftermarket ones are supposedly better they would charge a premium like the Stewart water pump and definitely won’t be cheaper...

Aftermarket, meaning non-genuine BMW or non OEM parts?I think of aftermarket as anything not genuine manufacturer. Like " I got this awesome aftermarket Turbonator off Ebay, their guaranteed to add 13hp"

Well after being dicked around by parts places. I went with FPS for all of parts needed. I would not recommend them, for anything. I ended up going Rein hoses, bmw t stat, bmw coolant temp sensor, Hepu water pump. BMW coolant.
Other than the 5 trips to the store for parts, it was a smooth, fairly quick job.

All the belts look good, the expansion tank, and rad looked in good shape.

I believe the leak was coming from the coolant sensor in the lower rad hose. Although, at the t-stat I did see crust, and the gasket looked a little wonky.

Thanks fellas!

FCP Euro came though. I finally used my credit that they gave me from a sour purchase more than 7 years ago.

Looking forward to putting on the new rotors, pads, and the floor mats were just for me.

Thanks again.

Give FCP another shot. Or send them a message at "sales@fcpeuro.com" explaining why you are pissed with them. I bet they make good.

Rein is totally fine, as is Wahler for the t-stat.

ECS has been completely awful when they mess up (everyone messes up), but FCP always makes good for me.

(note - I responded to page 1, not reading the rest! But I stand by what I wrote, so I will leave it)
