It seems maintained and a great price. I've never bought a car before (other than from family), let alone out of state, let alone sight unseen nor from a private party. Any thoughts/recommendations on how to do it? I imagine you need to put down a deposit and then remainder of payment. But how do you make sure you don't get scammed and never see the car after paying? I'm just nervous. It's not like you can paypal it.

I have bought and sold out of state. When I bought I flew there and drove the car, went to a bank and got a cashier's check then did the BOS and title transfer while I was there. Then I had a trucking company pick up the car the next few days. When I sold, the buyer had me take the car to a local shop for a PPI. When he decided he wanted it we faxed signed BOS with a copy of my driver's license. Then he had his credit union wire funds to mine via the associated credit union network. Honestly a big leap on his part. Then he arranged a truck pickup and I mailed him the title.

This car looks like it could be a heck of a deal. Such a good deal the additional cost of a flight might be worth it. Got miles to burn?

It's not the cost of the flight that is the issue, but time. I have an important meeting tomorrow that I have to be at and don't think I can swing everything Sunday in time to be back for work Monday very early.

Upon further discussion, this owner has only owned it for 5k miles. "PO did all the work" and there is no documentation to go with it. I have a friend in the area, and may have him take a look, although he is not a car guy. I can fly out next weekend otherwise. Not sure it's worth it now though. Who knows what's been done. Rather spend a little more to know what's been done.

That short of an ownership and no documentation sounds a bit sketchy.

If you can find a reputable shop in the area, a good ppi can certainly help

This.

This too. And after what he went through with his, I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes over it with a fine tooth comb.

My thoughts exactly. I haven't run a Carfax on it yet either being from Houston. But the left rear door sill is missing in the pic and my feeling is the pics are from the PO when it was listed before...

It's definitely not honest to write all that work up in the ad when you've only owned it for 5k and have zero documentation of it.
