Yep-- mine needed some serious work if they were gonna fit. Passed them on to DW who found the same.

It's odd... Because those splitters did not fit the Coupe OR the sedan properly.

I've tried these, and wasn't a fan. However, I got the chrome. It was just too shiny looking for me.
I imagine smoked looks better, though.

I have yet to receive mine, should be here Tuesday next week... but that is not a good news... have you tried reaching MiniD to ask for some advice?

I remember he mentioned its better to have it professionally installed, but i never thought he meant that the splitters needed a lot of work to fit....

Hows the quality of the splitters anyways?

I asked him in his build thread. They look good, they just look like they are going to need work to get them to fit.

@ jayjay... I think aftermarket splitters are hard to fit, just like any aftermarket front lip spoiler. They all take a little bit of work to make them look good. Depending on what look you are going after, it is worth the effort imho :thumbsup

I retrofitted another bimmer with OEM M3 side mirrors today....this time it was on a vert. Much easier but today I learned how I can adjust my motor base plate so the mirror is more centered in the housing....just too tired to do mine .....

Took my time and got everything to work perfectly :)

Since it's going to rain again tonight through tomorrow I did a very quick detail this evening only to realize that I will need to clay my car again and do a deep detail....when will I have time???

Got the CCV done in about 4.5 - 5 hours. My biggest snag was getting the top hose to reattach or getting it into place with it attached. Otherwise, everything went smoothly. I was even inspired to install my LCABs since I already had the front end on jack stands. Having it lifted wasn't necessary but, I didn't feel like killing my lower back by leaning into the bay all day. I also replaced my accessory belt tensioner pulley, upper intake boot, and throttle body gasket while I was in there. Now if I had only thought to put some sunscreen on my bald head while working in the sun...

today i drove the ZHP for the first time since Feb. 10th. that's just about two and a half months, folks! and i'm happy report that she's driving best i've ever felt since purchasing her. new CABs transform the suspension feel. and the new cooling system, w/ the new water pump and pulleys, man...the car just pulls. i'm sure some of it is the fact i haven't driven in a while, but she feels mean. in a good way. :)

Honestly I think they are GTI wheels, there are little VW logos right under the BBS logo which I'll probably grind flat but the main issue at the moment is the fact that PO had a not fully removed layer of rattle can white all over them that was hidden by brake dust. The centers will need to be painted correctly and lips polished at some point

I figured that it would be a good idea. $130 isn't that bad I guess. Usually they charge me $70 for it but today it was somehow $90 + camber bolts? Apparently the camber bolts are recommended being changed out every time you get an alignment because they've "been known to break" OK, sounds good enough to me.

Lol, yeah, I was laughing when I was removing the tank... wondering how many things you could possibly connect to a washer fluid reservoir.

It was pretty easy, though.

oh well, i receive my Enco B146(Dynavin Clone) this afternoon and was so excited to install it...

First, i had to uninstall the Parrot Bluetooth kit I installed last summer, took me 30 mins.

Then, another 30 mins to put in the Dynavin clone.... After pressing the power button, nada....
blank screen, tried the reset button, no dice still, blank screen... Drove around my block to see
if it would do magic... same result, blank screen... but all this time, the backlight is on and nice...

I just wasted this whole afternoon for this non working Enco B146... I already IM'd Jolly thru Skype

Coupe has sealed headlights. No gasket to replace.

Shouldn't be getting moisture from that unless the headlights were baked in the past and they didn't seal up properly.

I would take a look at the rubber boots at the back of the headlight assembly where the bulbs and harness are.

That might be your issue.

Tried to put my ///M dead pedal in today and discovered they aren't the same dimensions (notice the curve on the front of both and placement of the pedal itself)

So did I buy the wrong one? Or is this just not possible?

Tom, the one you bought is for sedan fitment. Since you have a coupe the arch is very different as you found out...

You have a sedan Dead pedal. Just make sure you get an OEM ///M Pedal because they only came in Coupe/Vert.

EDIT: Slowpoke :(

Lower grill and foglight mounts painted gloss black today

The gloss black really made the grill disappear again, the faded black stood out wayyyyy too much!

glazing and sealing the car today, also iron-x'd the wheels and hit them all with a mr. clean eraser bar

Pics probably later, just taking a quick break before I get back to it lol

verdict:

iron-x: did a great job removing the contaminants from my car, it stinks like crazy though lol
erasing my wheels: got lots of scuffs and marks off the wheels and they look 10x better .................... but I went too hard and I think I started to get too far into the clear so if you do this don't buy the heavy duty erasers and GO EASY ON THE WHEELS

Drove her to NYC (well, kinda. Giants/Jets stadium for Eurofest) and back. No hiccups.

My friend has a ZHP as well, same as mine, but he has replica headers and a magnaflow exhaust after that. We messed around a bit and he can't get a steady pull on me. I usually jump on him around 4-5k but then as we get closer to redline he inches away from me. Not too shabby considering all i have is the BMW Performance intake.. but he has it as well.

Hopefully I can get a tune this summer

I removed the non-zhp shift knob... That was not fun... It was stuck in place and I was really worried I was destroying the shifter itself pulling so hard... In the end, I dremeled the damn thing off ! Much better... As soon as the other car leaves the garage (clutch pedal went almost to the floor), I will swap it for the ZHP so that it can get its new water pump, coolant hoses and fuel filter (all preemptive). Nothing bad to report, she's a good one, and rides quite nicely on the Michelin Supersport. The only disappointment I have with the car is the linearity of the engine... It's too smooth, gotta do something to make it kick a little at some point on the rev band ;-)

I see 3M has a scratch repair kit they sell now. I'm tempted to give it a try but I really could use a complete polish/detail on the whole car. Just need to take the plunge and get a Porter Cable and pads and polishes etc. one of these days. Looks like this might work pretty good though.....

These were just the tramp stamp shots to distract everybody. Hope to get them cleaned up right and take some decent pictures. Took the 2002 out under the sunset, thought I had some great shots only to realize I overexposed and they were basically worthless. Lesson learned.

I'd hold off. If your car hasn't been clayed DIRECTLY before the wash, taking the blade and dragging across the paint will scratch the CC. If you take a hose, and lightly rising the car from the top/down you will create a sheeting effect and reduce drying time

I also installed a front license plate protector courtesy of Charlie. Interior has been fully cleaned; all alcantara treated with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Destroyed two of those suckers in the process, but the seats look almost brand new! Full interior vacuum ensued. Interior is looking SHARP, but not nearly as sharp as that beautifully deep exterior shine produced by none other than CK.

Gave my baby some 40% llumar ctx ceramic tints today. My phone sucks at pictures but you get the idea. Perfect level of darkness. I just hope all the streaking and film goes away around the dot matrix. Either way I have a lifetime warranty, and the tint shop seems pretty reputable. When my tints finally dry in a week or so, I will go ahead and write a review.

The holes were from splitters the PO had on there.
I used Lamin-X "Tint" shade to tint them. They have multiple levels of tint; this was the lightest shade.

Well, it's not hours like Dane says, but they definitely stay on for a few minutes, in a dimmed state, after locking your car.

Today, I fixed my SES light that came on for the 2nd time since the start of this past weekend. Turns out, I need a new gas cap. I tightened it a little more and bam, problem gone.

I've thought about doing that as well.. but I heard that the tint has too much of a blue tint instead of a 'smoked' look. I've always thunked that it would go well with my silver grey

That was my initial impression; it looks kinda blue when you first look at it. Then, the more you look at it, the rears look smoked. The fronts have a very slight bluish tint to them, but that really is just a tinted clear. It's that "midway" point between smoked and standard clear. It looks friggin' awesome, though, IMO.

If you want, I'll take some more detail pics Wednesday, hopefully when it's not raining out. :shifty

managed to find the strength to get the ZHP to the self-car wash. ran into a TiAG ZHP saloon who happened to be there at the same time! i was gonna go over to introduce myself right when he hopped in the car and drove off. we did exchange glances and waves, nods of ZHP approval heh.

car looks great. gave it a good hand dry (pretty tiring in my condition) as well as tried out the Quixx scratch remover. just tried it on one decent length, but superficial scratch. it seemed to do okay. will try it out more on the rest of the surfaces scratches i've found and report back in more detail...also looking forward to the Dr Color Chip kit arriving tomorrow...

Where'd you tear the vapor barrier? It is important but depends where. The vapor barrier when not sealed correctly after taking it apart can cause water to enter the vehicle on the floor board. I didn't seal mine correctly when doing the regulators and found out on the first rain. You can check by letting a hose drench your window while closed of course and check for water coming through.
