Anyone getting a slight buzzing noise when using their bluebus? Could hear it when I pause my music. It happens every now and then. Was wondering if anyone else experienced similar issues.
Sounds like a ground loop issue. Can you verify all your grounds are tight? Meaning the chassis ground and the electronics ground strap.
Thanks!

Bit of a follow-up -- this is what ground loop noise sounds like: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ground_loop_50_Hz_sound.flac

I'm good on my BlueBus. No noise.

This is good! Not to pass blame, but generally speaking anyone who is hearing noise from their audio system at normal listening levels (or even slightly above) has an underlying issue. This can be anywhere from rusty or loose grounds, to a bad battery or a bad alternator.
These issues can be mitigated, but obviously it is best to fix the underlying issue.
Thanks!

Mine is good too. No buzzing. And my volume issue was resolved after I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in power pin first. It gets super loud and the audio quality is awesome.
Hey Ted, possible enhancement idea. I noticed there’s a lot of extra space on the nav screen below the song, artist, album. Is it possible to also show the time elapsed/total song length (like 0:30/3:00)? Would be a useful bit of info for scrubbing and/Or podcasts.
And on the subject of scrubbing, it works as expected and scrubs through the song until I let go of the button. However, I noticed when I scrub forward through a song, my Nav screen displays <<R. Kinda odd, eh? I figured it would have displayed F>> instead.

The buzzing is really faint, and happens every now and then. What exactly is the chassis ground and electronic ground strap? Sorry, still new here. The bluebus has everything connected. However, I did not strap it down with tape or bolt it on something, so the bluebus kind of floats in the trunk.. Maybe that could be it? Or should I try just unplugging everything, and plugging it all back?

It's not really feasible to display track time as the second you begin scrubbing, the data becomes invalid. I get no notifications, nor can I request where in playback you are.
I never scrub through songs, so I haven't fiddled with the display (<<R // F>>)

The BlueBus itself can be left to flop around with little worry. The chassis ground strap is under the passenger side frame rail (exhaust side of the engine) -- corrosion is common here. The electronics ground is on the passenger side of the trunk, behind the carpeting. It's a bunch of brown wires bolted to the chassis.
Thanks!

Can you possibly take a video recording of the noise and send it to support@bluebus.dev so I can figure out its origin?

Great video. Wish I would’ve seen this before my install. I got stuck with that big plug having to be turned around too. I had to pester Ted!
My only minor disagreement might be on the value part. I think it was a total bargain for what it does: bringing modern tech to a 20 year old platform, and i love the sound quality jump over my old Bluetooth dongle to AUX. It integrates so seamlessly (menus on my nav, etc) and functions reliably so far (get in car, turn on, its connected. Turn off car, it turns off right away. Etc) I dont think theres a reason to spend more. Already been pushing it to other E46 owners I know.

Hah, so glad it wasn't just me stuck with that middle plug, I felt really stupid how long it took me to figure out.
As for value, here's the thing. I more or less agree with you. To be completely honest, I'm in three massive group chats with BMW owners in the SoCal area (if you're in it, you probably know me - I'm very active). When I got my unit installed, I shared my excitement with two of these groups. There was initial excitement, followed by asking where to buy and price. When I mentioned price, I got a lot of push back from the group. That's when people told me in two of the groups that for the money, most said they'd rather get a headhunt.
And that's fine, that's what I tried to illustrate in my video. I felt what I said in my video should illustrate the viewpoint of those who I talked about it with, rather than just my own viewpoint. The person who finds this a good value, isn't entirely in the market for a budget headunit or CarPlay, they want the interior to look completely factory, regardless of the sacrifices that makes. That's why I have BlueBus: audio insanely clear, it pairs easily, and gives me steering wheel controls. That's all BlueBus needed to get my money. I know one other person in my life who has BlueBus, and that is also all they wanted out of BlueBus. Of course there's additional value in having metadata displayed and the door unlocking and triple blink.
I personally love BlueBus. I think Ted knows that too with my discussions with him. I think BlueBus is way better than any headunit under $500. I can't wait to see where BlueBus goes from here too, I think there's a ton of possibilities.

This is a sentiment I get pretty often, but as you mentioned, most of these folks are not part of my target audience. I honestly wanted to keep the unit at $199 USD, but the only way I could make the numbers make sense for a distributorship through ECS Tuning was to raise the price to $235, otherwise I would have been paying them to sell the BlueBus :D.
I am thinking of including the telephone adapter in the price going forward, at least for orders placed directly through me.
The thing that stinks about small batch manufacturing is that the CPU is incredibly high, so I can't compete with Chinese BT "dongles".
Anyways, I digress :)

Which is what I was using before this. I had a 25 dollar dongle which (went to my AUX jack) from amazon that served me (mostly) well for years before your lil magic box arrived. I personally did not realize how much better the SQ could get over BT from better quality parts. I think when we are explaining the product to people, we need to stress just how much better the SQ can be over these dongles (and pretty amazed my 15 year old speakers could sound that good too). Ill be sure to mention it, if not show them if I am able.

I will say that I have gotten a lot of business from the fact that most of these cars did not come with AUX capabilities :D.
But yeah, quality was the top priority of the BlueBus rather than cost engineering, since this is something I wanted for myself. I've definitely started using audio quality as a talking point when people balk at the price. :)

Ted - any way we can have metadata off by default? Due to the well engineered interior, I depend on the radio for the time. I get in my car and hit "2" and then "-" on the far left and I'm good to go, but now that my HVAC issues are solved, I'm hoping there's something I'm missing with metadata default?

I honestly never though people wouldn't want to see metadata, so I never considered this. I can, relatively easily, add an "off" option.
There are code changes in the works right now to improve existing features, though most of them don't touch the CD53 UI :(

Hi Ted,
Is there something I can reference for the "scale" of the microphone gain? People on the other end of the call say there's still a slight echo (better with the 15.1 firmware), and I recall you mentioning to turn down the gain. I don't think it's a 1-10 scale, right?
I'm still amazed at the improved sound quality of the BlueBus, makes me consider upgrading the speakers now. Thanks again for developing this.

Will,
The gain is C0 - D6 in the terminal (-27 to +36 in weird increments that I did not define and cannot alter).
I recommend you follow this guide: https://github.com/tedsalmon/BlueBus/wiki/Accessing-the-Terminal
Then run:
bt mgain c1
Gain level C0 / -27dB seems to cause quality issues.

No, that's a bad fix for the issue. Is the issue as bad as it was before? What's the build month and year of your car? Except for one German user, everyone else reported 1.1.15 resolved the IHKA (HVAC) issues.
An I-Bus log may help reveal the root cause (https://github.com/tedsalmon/BlueBus/wiki/Gathering-a-Log), if you are able to replicate it quickly.
Thanks!

Hi Ted-
First off, thanks for being so engaged with the community on this device. I hate my FM dongle and cannot wait to get one of these.
I read through the whole post, and have a couple quick questions:
My ZHP has the Business CD system with an XM Satellite Radio receiver.
1. Since XM is plugged into an aux input (I believe it is in the CD changer position), will I have to abandon Sat Radio with a Bluebus?
2. If I am running Waze for navigation, I usually have Spotify running in the background. Will I be able to do so with the Bluebus? Can the steering wheel controls change tracks on Spotify in this mode?
3. I'm a little confused on needing the TCU adapter. I have the steering wheel controls and the factory mic, would I still need it to use basic HFP Bluetooth with my iPhone 11Pro?
Thanks!

It's significantly mitigated now. Perhaps it was a fluke. I haven't driven much since I sent my last message.

My HVAC unit will reboot randomly and then return to whatever settings the car started with. If the car started as off, then it'll just shut off. Or if it starts at fan one and you've sent it to fan 3, it'll turn off and return to that original temp at fan 1. I am an early build 08/01

1. No! Just get the factory "Sirius Slave Cable" https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-bmw-parts/sirius-slave-cable/84110150526/
2. Sure! There's nothing stopping both audio sources from coming through the BlueBus :)
3. You will need the adapter if you want to use the factory microphone without going through the hassle of re-pinning some wires off the vehicle harness (https://github.com/tedsalmon/BlueBus/wiki/Install-with-54-pin-TCU-connector).

Truth be told, the OE BT sucks, is it better for the Bluebus to bypass it?
When it rings now it scares the living daylights out of me, the alert sounds like the infamous flash flood/emergency buzzer we all get on our phones.

LOL, my car came with the same Everest (BT) TCU and I HATED that damned ring tone. That's the main reason I integrated OE calling into the BlueBus.
You can always try calling with the BlueBus and return the adapter if it's somehow worse than the OE TCU. Others may be able to chime in their non-biased comparison of the two.

Honestly, I'll just be ordering the Bluebus with the TCU unless I hear otherwise. I just dumped $700 into maintenance items on my ZHP so I'll hold tight on the Bluebus for another month. Addressing a leaky power steering hose and oil filter gasket are taking precedence for the moment.
I saw that there is the ability to do some BUS related programming via Bluebus. Does that include programming the GM5, as in coding a new one for my car? Sorry if this has been covered but I don't recall seeing it specifically.

Ted can speak up but BlueBus doesn't really code a car, but rather sniffs and sends messages on the bus. Example, using your turn signal is relayed from the switch over the bus, so that both the LCM and IKE get that message so that the signal turns on and so that it is displayed on the cluster. BlueBus is actively looking for this, and so when it sees the bus message "left turn indicator tapped on", it knows to keep putting that message over the bus for it to relay 3 blinks. And that's how it adds triple blink to LCM's that didn't support it.
This is only speculation as to how this works and obviously there are a number of ways to implement these features.

Totally makes sense. Thanks. I have a PASoft on the way so hopefully I can get to the bottom of a couple of these issues I've found. Now to figure out either how to run it on a virtual machine on the Mac or snag a cheap windows machine.

I integrated BlueBus into my Mystic ZHP today. The hardest part of this install was getting the TCU connector off so I could connect it to my BlueBus.
This device is truly “plug and play” and Ted has done an amazing job developing this product!
During my quick checks, the audio quality in both music & video playback was clear and amazing and handsfree communication audio was also clear. I could not ask for more with this product.
Steering wheel controls work seemlessly with BlueBus. This is something I have been waiting for and will most likely order another kit for my M3 over the upcoming winter months...

Been running my BlueBus for a few weeks now since installing it... I could not be happier with this product, just saying. :) Every time I go into my ZHP to start it up, it immediately sees my iPhone and begins playing music as long as I have bluetooth on on my iPhone and the car radio is also on. The audio quality is superb as far as my old man ears can detect and when I use the phone to make calls, everything just works perfectly just like OEM. I could not ask for better as far as I am concerned. I also like that I can enable one-touch five blink if I want. All from this device. You also get online support from Ted and the packaging of this device is excellent.
Even though I have the Business CD radio head unit, I'm no longer in a hurry to get the AVIN head unit for this car because BlueBus integrates so perfectly. I am actually satisfied with the setup currently in my ZHP. I really love the improved bluetooth streaming capabilities BlueBus has and the clarity of sound going into my stereo system. I enjoy streaming SIRIUS radio from my iPhone into the car... :)

try this one: p/n 84 31 6 938 762 price is around $65 for this part.
The 762 P/N is the upgraded BMW microphone that's available from BMW. It has better noise cancellation than the older less expensive 84 31 8 380 319 Microphone.
Since I haven't had anyone complain to me regarding how I'm sounding I figured I would leave my original microphone installed.
Here are a few links to get one of these "improved" microphones for half the cost... from my experience these don't go bad...

I'm really glad you're enjoying it! I recently purchased a Touring without Nav and I now understand why so many people drop in aftermarket radios -- without AUX, it's terrible to be stuck listening to FM.

Please make sure you're both on 1.1.16 (https://www.bluebus.dev/software)
Then, please follow this guide: https://github.com/tedsalmon/BlueBus/wiki/Accessing-the-Terminal
Then run these two commands:
bt cvc on
bt mgain c1
That should clear up the echo and sounding distant.
Thanks!

I have found with your product you don't need any AUX input. Once I order your product for my M3, after I take care of a few other higher priority items at my garage, I will eliminate the Intravee II setup currently installed and integrate your product. You have done an amazing job developing this solution Ted :thumbsup

I have to agree -- my M3 has AUX and that was my go-to before I developed the BlueBus. Now I can't even remember the last time I used it :).
The first thing I did was throw a BlueBus into the Touring and now the world is right.
The Intravee is a great product as well, but it is definitely showing its age in terms of components required and inability to use Bluetooth (there are work arounds for this, but they're quite hacky).
Anyways, thanks for the kind words -- I'm really glad you're happy with my little brain-child :)

The last part number is for the improved microphone that has noise cancelling built in.
This is only true for the OE system. They added gain to the pre-amp on the unit so they could more accurately process noise / echo from the users voice.
For the BlueBus, all three parts work the same once cVc is enabled (which it usually is by default, except for certain early models).
Thanks!

About to pull the trigger on the Bluebus but I have questions regarding my cars compatibility. I have an 2004.
Im really not comfortable with soldering or messing with the electrical in my car so I want my install to be as smooth as possible. I also want to use the OEM microphone for handsfree calling. With those trunk tags and the look of my overhead microphone cover, will my install be a plug and play or will it be more involving?
Thanks!

The picture of your sunroof controls confused me until I realized you have a slicktop :)
Anyways, everything is plug and play -- the BlueBus, the Microphone, etc. The caveats are:
1. You need a microphone most likely. These are the part numbers and 84318380338, 84318380319 and 84316938762.
2. You'll need the additional 54-pin connector adapter.
Thanks!

Ha. Yeah I sure do have a slicktop, forgot to mention that part. An elusive slick top, AT with leather (no idea who spec'd my car, they were a strange bird.
Where is the 54 pin connector going? Some install videos appear to replace the OEM TCU with the bluebus, is that the proper installation process? Im sure im repeating questions already asked so I apologize

The 54-pin connector that is used is for the OEM TCU, so if you're equipped, it's going to need to be removed first :)

Curious if anyone else has experienced this.
Its pretty cold here in the midwest. When I go out to start the car in the morning (kinda rare given the dragging of the pandemic) the bluebus doesn't immediately connect as usual. Thinking that maybe I did something to unpair the devices, I go through the steps to connect with no success. Later on in the day when its warmer everything works just fine.
TL;DR - Doesn't work when super cold?

Yep, both of my units did that to me when it was <50F a couple weeks ago (it was low-mid 40s). The BT wouldn't connect. I had to unplug and then reconnect the unit and it worked again. Ted mentioned this problem in the nam3foum thread and how to test it. I still need to perform the freezer test.
Is it below 50F where you are? With the E53 unit, could you possibly try this rather odd procedure to test?
1. Remove the unit from the car and place it in the freezer for 60+ minutes.
2. Remove the unit from the freezer and immediately plug it into the USB port of a computer, make sure NOT to unplug it.
3, Follow this guide: https://github.com/tedsalmon/BlueBus...g-the-Terminal
4. Run these commands:
set log bt on
bt version
5. Post the results
If it *only* says `SEND COMMAND 'VERSION'`, then there's a problem . If it shows the MAC ID and other tid bits, then it might be something else.

Howdy!
That shouldn't be too hard to add. I actually purchased an E46 325iT without Nav and I noticed the metadata got a bit annoying at times. On the bright side, I have a full Nav system for the Touring, I just need to pony up the cash for the retrofit harness. I've been busy sourcing ZHP Gloss Window trim for it from Germany, along with Silver Cube interior trim.

A 2003 E39 will have the 54 pin connector as well as the SES. As long as your SES connector has the BMW "Jumper" on it, the 54-pib adapter will work for both cars. By 2006, the SES connector had been phased out

Just FYI everyone: I went to get ready to submit a batch for production and found many of the BlueBus components to be out of stock. While I was able to get alternates in place for the passives, there are several key components which are seemingly difficult to source right now. The biggest is the micro-controller, which cannot be swapped out (it's the core of the device, really):

I ignore non-authorized distributors because god knows what truck that fell off of.
Anyways, I have enough to make 380 units, but after that it looks like I'm SOL until late this year unless Digi-Key gets some stock before Mouser.
There appears to be a huge shortage of components throughout the electronics industry right now. I assume it's because of COVID/COVID Vaccinations, but a distributor told me it was also because there's a huge ramp up in new vehicle manufacturing. :(

Hmm, I see Farnell's 160 and AVNET with 45, but that's it. I may be able to scrounge those together for a run, but who knows if it'll be available when I need it. I did just see that Farnell has 2 trays coming in July, so that could have the right timing.

Nuts because of 1) Semiconductor shortages, 2) Cryptominers, and 3) Scalpers. #2 and #3 really, royally piss me off. I've been trying to buy an RTX 3080 at the price it's supposed to be since November and have been unsuccessful because all these a-holes and their damned bots buying up all stock as soon as it's posted.

having lived my career in the electronics manufacturing industry, and the crazy component supply issues in the last 3 years, manufacturers fight for every part in the capacity constrained limited supply marketplace of parts to build their customers products.
And that creates the premium marketplace where distributor's find parts and markup those parts to crazy prices, and the top tier manufacturers are willing to pay that premium to build product for their customers. That premium gets passed to the end customer of course
Which makes it even more difficult for a small manufacturer to compete for those parts, yet alone control their costs
So here we are.....

I got the licenses for the latest production batch earlier this week and I've worked up a GUI tool to install it and enable cVc, but I'm still testing it.
For the technically savvy, you can follow this process: https://github.com/tedsalmon/BlueBus/wiki/Accessing-the-Terminal
The run version followed by enter. Note the serial number given.
If your serial number is 1261, 1340, 1354, 1362, 1368, 1371, 1378, 1400, 1424 or 1441 then use this command followed by enter:
bt license cvc 3A6B BC18 A9BF FC81 0000
Otherwise if your serial number is between 1192 and 1485, use this command followed by enter:
bt license cvc 3A6B 8168 9B8F FC81 0000
Then follow that up with these commands, each followed by enter:
bt cvc on
bt mgain c1
Thanks!

If you ignore the usual Linus YouTube antics, I think he did a good job describing the silicon situation.

My dads been a PCB designer in Silicon Valley for 30 years. Hasn’t seen supply constrictions like this before.
The weirdest thing to me is how much this is impacting the automotive industry. You don’t normally think of them as silicon consumers, but every damn thing in a car these days is CPU controlled.

Yay software updates! Thanks for the continual work on these. My unit has been performing flawlessly for the most part on 1.1.14 (didn’t realize I was so far behind) and I don’t use it for phone calls (just audio streaming) so not sure if there’s anything essential in the newer releases for my unit. One question though, what are dynamic comfort blinks you are adding support for? Do we have those in the E46? I do have mine set to do 5 blinks when changing lanes (works great). Are you saying you are increasing that to 8 max?
Thanks!

Hey Ted,
I went ahead and upgraded my unit from 1.1.14 to 1.1.17 and my comfort blinking no longer works. I am wondering if it has to do with the way the bluebus handles it now and that a few years ago I, like a number of other e46 owners, bought a LCM capable of being programmed for different blinks. I had the updated LCM set to do 3 blinks. When I first installed the bluebus I set the blinks to 5 and it worked perfectly. Now after the update it is only doing 3 blinks again no matter what number I set bluebus to.
This might also be a PSA on 1.1.17 for all the other owners who put in the updated LCM and programmed comfort blinking - they wont be able to change the number of blinks.

Hmm, this is quite odd. Do you have Navigation or not?
Since 1.1.15 the LCM/LSZ revision is identified automatically to de-couple the vehicle type selection from the diagnostics messages that are used to trigger the feature. It's possible your LSZ wasn't properly identified, but it should continue trying to ID the unit until it gets a response.
Thanks!

I do have Navigation. It was years ago, but I vaguely recall most E46 LCMs needing a software update to a newer version in order to activate triple blink. example here: http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?19735-How-to-enable-triple-blink-on-a-4-5-LCM-using-NCS-Expert
Hm, any suggestions? unplugging the bluebus and plugging it back in? I could try taking out the LCM and comparing the part numbers to my old one.

Yeah, try this if you don't mind:
https://github.com/tedsalmon/BlueBus/wiki/Accessing-the-Terminal
After that, type in: "restore" and hit enter
You'll need to pair the BlueBus again and reconfigure your settings, but that will also force it to re-query the vehicle for the LSZ variant.

Mine just got dropped off at the post office... Probably won't see it till early next week. I'm so excited!
So I'm having some complications (it would be me). I got everything installed but:
1. I cannot get my head unit to display the Bluetooth option consistently
2. The few times I was able to connect, I did not get any sound and I couldn't really navigate the menus.
3. Several times I got the LCD screen to say CD 7-01 or 7-33. What does that mean?
4. As I'm writing this, I can no longer connect to bluebus. My phone times out when it was attempting to connect.
Edit: seems like I didn't completely plugin the power so after confirming the plugs, my phone is connected but I still can't get the display to show Bluetooth thus no sound. Do I have to unplug the OEM aux cable from the head unit?

Yes. Find the ipod adapter installation instructions online and reverse the wiring. I believe it's like 2-3 wires that need to be moved back into original connections.
Update: I am able to get media to play through the bluebus after finally finding the missing 10 pin connector that was hiding in plain sight. But seems like the hands free connectivity with the phone and smart assistant aren't working.
Maybe this requires switching out the pins from the iPod adapter?
What tool did you use to remove the pins from the main radio harness connection?

It is the bundle for the optional CD changer that you need. It is usually just behind the driver's shock tower in front of the carriage that the DVD computer, BM53 radio and Amp is mounted to... unwrap the bundle and you will find two connectors that will connect into the BlueBus module... If you are still having problems locating the bundle then send me a PM... I will step you thru this...

I think the UI is way cleaner and I think there may be even 1-2 more features that you don't get on the CD53. I tried activating the blink commands again, but it caused my cluster brightness to freak out, so I turned it off. I figured new chassis, maybe I'd have better luck.
I am going back to CD53 soon though, I personally just don't enjoy the factory nav. Still will be rocking BlueBus though! Still a big fan :) But yes I'll contact you soon about a TCU connector and a couple other things :)

Definitely use this tool to set the right echo cancellation settings: https://github.com/tedsalmon/BlueBus/wiki/Clear-Voice-Capture
The other thing to try is to tune the volume so it's just "high enough" to be audible, but not so high that it echos to the caller. Usually, the Clear Voice Capture algo will fix it, though.

It's honestly whatever works best for you -- the way it works is each step results in the BlueBus emulating a button press of the volume up button on the multi-function steering controls so that the call volume can be offset from the music volume (since the call volume is much lower than music volume). Once the call is over, the BlueBus lowers the volume the same amount of steps back.
Thanks!

I'm hoping to make them available for pre-order late next Month, with a shipdate somewhere in the early summer (late June). I won't even have all the parts I need to make them until April, unfortunately.
The state of the electronics component industry is equivalent to the state of toilet paper when the pandemic first began. :eeps

Just an update for everyone: I am going to be opening pre-orders on Monday April 4th, with an expected ship date of late June / early July.
I am also excited to announce that through the redesign, I have been able to lower the cost of each unit enough that I can now sell them for $199 USD :).
Thanks!

Are you saying that the ring tone plays on the phone rather than the vehicle speakers, or are you unable to use calls at all via the car speakers and microphone?
In-band ringing is enabled by default, so if it’s not ringing via the speakers that’s weird. What phone and OS version?

Sounds like your unit may not have Clear Voice Capture set up correctly. Please follow this guide: https://github.com/tedsalmon/BlueBus/wiki/Clear-Voice-Capture

A quick update for the July 2022 batch: PCB assembly, programming and test is happening this week. It'll take them about a week to arrive, so I should be shipping late next week or early the following week. I'm hoping to get most of them shipped in a single day by taking time off my day job.

is the old bluebus (before component change) better than new one? looks like the new one has less features (educate me).

I would put a v2 in my car over a V1. The circuit is more stout, and the lost features will make their way back in some form or another.

Go to this link :thumbsup
https://www.bluebus.dev/orders/checkout
Add the 54-pin TCU adapter. You will also need this to connect BlueBus to your BMW.

Anyone else having an issue updating theirs via their laptop. I was running to some trouble trying to update mine via my Mac laptop.
I last updated my bluebus in late 2021. I have successfully updated it 2 or 3 times with this set up since purchase. I noticed that there was a new firmware 1.3.0, so I figured I would update again. I was trying to get my bluebus to talk to my MacBook but it keeps saying timeout after a few seconds. The green power light is solidly on. and when I select the device from the tool drop down I see a little orange or red light blink a few time, then it gives me the error. I have tried 7 or 8 different USB cables so far making sure I was fully pushing them in, so not sure if that may still be the issue. The bluebus works ok for the most part otherwise. I have tried the firmware tool from last year, which gives 5 seconds before time out. I also downloaded the one currently on the website 1.3 (not sure if the firmware tool has been updated), which gives 10 seconds before time out.

Yep I had the same exact issue with No success after several attempts. I did contact Ted and he tried to remote in to help but we had issues with the connection. It works fine on the 1.1.18 software so as the saying goes “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” applies. [emoji851]

Oh so Im not the only one. I am on 1.1.17. Are you using a Mac too or PC?
I did email him back in December but I never received a response. Hopefully he will check in and see these messages here. Mine is working fine as far as I can tell but it’d be nice to be able to update the software again for new features/bug fixes.

Gary is using a Mac
I just checked my BlueBus and I'm at firmware 1.3.0 on my Gen2 BlueBus (blue pwr light)

I pulled out my Gen1 BlueBus (green pwr light) and tried to run the firmware update tool and have the same problem where it times out. Unable to read my Gen1 BlueBus or update the firmware on it. It has firmware 1.1.18 installed on it.

Interesting. So, I wonder if all Gen 1 devices are no longer upgradable for some reason. Or maybe there an issue with the firmware update tool (for MAC)?

Seems there is a problem using Mac computers because I grabbed my Windows tablet and was able to update my Gen 1 BlueBus to firmware 1.3.0 without issue once I updated my device driver and assigned COM1.

I did as well, a few times. I think something changed after one of the previous updates that affected the Mac update tool. You can see above CakM3 switched to his PC and was able to update.
I only have a mac so thats not an option. Hopefully it gets fixed.
