View Full Version : Remove stagger?

Hi! I have a 2004 330i ZHP and it's time for new tires. I read about people who removed the staggered wheel sizes. Do I just buy 2 more rear wheels and then use the rear tire size on the front? Are there fitment issues? Is there rubbing?

Thanks!

There have been a few threads on the topic... I'd suggest looking through the Wheel / Tire forums.

You need 2 rear wheels which are 8.5" wide and either 235 section width tires or 245 section width on all 4 corners.

This, if you don't want your speedometer readings to change.
255/35-18 is the factory diameter, so if you change widths, you will throw that speedo off.

Here's a calculator for handy reference:

I have 4x 245/40R18's, and the speedo did change--it became more accurate. They're slightly over-sized and fill the wheel wells a little better.

You think? The famous Dane Wilson, BMW/ZHP/automotive expert isn’t sure about his tire size? Has the world gone crazy?

I have 18x8.5 245/35 square. To me, one doesn't really need stagger, as that promotes understeer.
