Believe it is autodim. There is no lever on the bottom to switch it.

I think autodim have a 1/4" dot in the top center of the reflective surface for sensing. Manual mirrors the clown nose rotates change the reflection for bright lights. I think with the introduction of the E46 BMW stopped using the levers to allow control for bright lights.

I have the cover but it's got a coupe of damaged tabs. No nav. Rear spoiler is sold. Shoot me a PM with a phone number and I can text you some pictures of the brake light cover.
