Still looking and being patient. Let me know if anyone knows of a potential sale. I'm looking online so see most of those...

This just popped up in OH:
https://www.qcclassics.com/details/used-2004-bmw-3-series/62688844

Could be exactly what you’re looking for if it isn’t rusted out.

Thanks man! The owner of the dealership let me know about it as well. The price is good for the miles but the car looks like it's been driven a little hard. Steering wheel looks ratty and the drivers seat has a lot of wear for 90K miles. Plus it in Ohio and on snow tires...likely the beginnings of rust somewhere. I am in San Diego and just need to be patient for the right non-rusty car to come along.

Do not blame you at all. It does look like a hard 90k miles.

Not every person exercises the same level of obsession getting in and out of their cars like we do. The car looks to be in decent overall shape based on pics.

The only thing that would concern me though is potential rust, but that is what a PPI is for.

Exactly.. For an older car with 90k miles those seats overallook good.

You are not going to get seats like this in your hunt, there's give and take.

An upholstery shop can fix that seat for less than $300.

Totally understand the concern for rust though......

Still looking and trying to be patient! The search process has helped me narrow down the fact that I definitely only want a non-sunroof ZHP. Also open to Alpine White as a color now. Yes trying to find a unicorn...

Ooh +1, would love to see that thing posted about on the forum

I have concerns about the bodywork and paint quality on the shop that did that part of the conversion. I've seen other cars that they have done and was not impressed. Plus on a sedan I prefer the normal (non-M) body lines. Love a lot about the car but not everything and for potentially $30K+ you better love everything.

Those seats on page one are in great shape for 90k, I don’t see the issue

Seats? 90K? I am not sure what you are talking about. The seats are nice and were well done as they were just reupholstered. I know the shop that did them... A separate body shop did the body work and paint and they aren't known for the best quality work.

I can clarify the confusion. Post #5 has a link to a FS ad (car already sold). That car had some wear and tear on the driver's seat. Then on post #9, nextelbuddy posted pics of a great looking alcantara interior (different car, not the car from post #5).

Apex you should take a look at this one I found on craigslist! Imola, Slicktop, Alcantara, 6MT, 97k, California car.

It might just be the beautiful and rare red head you have been endlessly searching for!

Oh trust me I called already! He sent me a ton of pics and videos. Great guy to deal with but it's clear the car needs a ton of cosmetic work. Basically a full repaint to be honest. You combine that with the price and I had to pass.

Apex, Thanks for the info. I emailed the guy yesterday, but got no response. A full repaint can be very expensive. I called a local body shop (supposed be a cheap one) and was quoted $7K. Not sure if this is the special silicon valley hyper price or the ongoing rate. Quite a bummer though - good low mileage and slick top IR/Alcantara, checked all the boxes.

Oh dang! That's too bad to hear! I was hoping this was the one for you. Oh well, the search continues! I'll keep my eyes out for you.
