I have a 2004 black on black that i will be putting on the market soon. I am the second owner. The car is a bit higher milage at 146k. The original owner used it as a comuter from orange, ca to Long Beach area. Let me know if you are interested and we can go into further detail. The car is located in SoCal, Costa Mesa, CA.

Has anyone inquired or put eyes on this one?

There are some interesting items in the maintenance history - namely a replaced transmission followed by later, a new clutch. Why?

I saw this car listed as well - very rare color combo. Not sure on those maintenance items you mention, but if you're interested you should reach out and ask the seller. This is the type of ZHP I'd be looking for, one with recent, documented, attention to detail maintenance records. Most of the stuff out there on CL, Autotrader, etc. offer little details and I'm sure the sellers would have little to no maintenance records if you asked.

One thing to note on these cars if buying a 4 door - you'll want to ask/check/see the xenon headlights at night. Many of the 4 doors came with the ZKW manufactured headlight units, ALL of which will result in burnt projector bowls which drastically decrease light output (you can Google 'ZKW burnt project bowls' and you'll find plenty of info). When I had my ZHP I had the units retrofitted with aftermarket projectors by Lightwerkz, which made a world of different. Some cars came with the AL manufactured lights which don't have the same issues. But definitely something you'll want to check on, unless you happen to stumble on a 30K mile car.

I reached out. This car was a BaT acquisition 12 months ago and all of the work was done by that PO.

SOLD on BaT FOR $13,330 ON 1/4/19 with 123K miles, so seller has added only 2K miles in 13 months https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2004-bmw-330i-zhp-20/

Paid a lot for it, IMO, for a car with a dirty Carfax and >100k miles. Condition seems to be excellent though.

Pretty much the going rate for a rare/desirable color combo ZHP 4 door with 6MT and good maintenance history.

This is definitely the same car? The BaT car has an aftermarket head unit, the car on CL has the stock setup.

Per the VIN provided by seller, it’s the same car. Stay tuned!

jottati as the seller. I'd be willing to bet there's a relation to mottati (super, super well known in the e34 m5 world). Epitome of "owner I want to buy from"

Had a PPI done. Not sure if I’m buying yet based on the results - will decide tomorrow, but happy to share the results of that PPI if I don’t, if anyone else is a buyer.

I suggest you share the PPI either way....? We're brothers here... if you don't buy it, help us all know why

Ad has been taken down, but I negotiated it down significantly before the PPI.

Aside from minor cosmetic stuff, they identified:
1) Oil Pan Gasket Weeping
2) Inop horn
3) Will need tires + alignment
4) Brake fluid flush
5) Inspection service due in 2200 miles.

3-5 are routine maintenance so it doesn’t bother me. What is nagging me is the Oil Pan gasket and the horn - my shop up here quoted $900 for repairing that and $300-$600 for the horn depending on cause. Don’t think seller will come down further in price.

Was able to come to an agreement with seller, so should be moving forward - taking more time because buying from a distance + shipping.
