I think the last BMW that came close to the essence of the ZHP was a M-package 125i/128i with the 6 speed and no iDrive or other unnecessary gadgets.

My wife recently moved from a 428i auto Vert to a M235i auto Vert. I’ve had it out on some twisty back hills and it does well BUT, you need to be in the correct mode.

It does have Gobb’s of power and road glue in sport + but, that takes planing. In the ZHP, it’s just a madder of knowing the gear for the road/driving environment.

It looks too short in length and too tall.

The Base GC comes with FWD, but the M235i GC comes with AWD.

TBH, I'm more interested in the Golf R at a lower price point.

But seriously, almost none of the new models have Hofmeister Kinks. I know the Chinese apparently love them some big grilles but the new design language as a whole isn't even remotely attractive to me. It's busy for the sake of being busy, but that seems to be the trend with the entire auto industry in the last 5+ years. Hey look at me! Look how flashy I am! Look at my fake air ducts and bajillion body creases!
