I’ve been a die hard griots guy since I got my e92 back in 2009. But lately I’ve been looking around and liking some of the products from adam’s. I just ordered their graphine kit on prime day. Really looking forward to seeing it in action under a UV light.
Not to mention adam’s tends to run better sales and promos, and I feel their prices are typically less than griots in general.

So who do you guys use for you detailing stuff?

I use a good bit of Adam’s stuff and dabble in a few products from obsessed garage. I haven’t transitioned towards ceramic coatings yet but I use the sealant + Collinite combo when I detail once a year or so and maintain with bead maker. I keep Adam’s wheel cleaner for really nasty stuff but p&s brake buster works well for wheels and tires without being so harsh.

I think when I finally get a replacement front and rear bumper with paint touch ups, I’m gonna go the obsessed garage ceramic coating recommendation

Also not sure if you’re into polishing with DA orbital machines, but it really is almost required as it takes your paint to a whole new level of clarity and shine. You’ll be astonished when done correctly

Yes I use a griots orbital and have a few of their different size attachments so I can go from 3 to 5 to 6.5 inches, useful for small or narrow spaces. And then I pair the orbital with their BOSS line of polishes. It’s 4 different types to be used together depending on the severity of each surface.

I want to get a few panels respirated next year so I want to get out as much as I can to see what it really necessary.

Thought I'd post here instead of making a new thread. I'm going to do a full decon + paint correct + protection in September, and am starting to research what products to use. I was thinking of going with the tried-and-true Jescar Power Lock Plus + Collinite 845, then P&S Bead Maker as a drying aid. But given these products are quite old and I guess "traditional" in some sense, with the advent of all these new SiO2/graphene/ceramic spray waxes, I can't help but think there are better, more durable products out there.

One example is some of Turtle Wax's latest products. There's always been a stigma that their products were always sub-par, but some of their latest stuff is seriously impressive. I wonder if anyone here has had experience using it?

For example their Show and Shine is on-par with both Adam's and 303 Graphene spray coatings:

... and Chicago Auto Pros has tested the Adam's Graphene spray and it still beaded after 6 months:

I don't have any detail products at home. But I took my car 3 years ago to a detail shop and they applied Optimum Gloss Coat. The car looked very sharp afterwards but I didn't like this : water spots started to show after the treatment. I'm not planning to use ceramic again, next time it will be a sealant.

In case of cone hits at autox or just general damage to the ceramic coat at the track.

I'm still thinking of sticking with what Matt at OG suggested, but I don't know... all these new products are cheaper and seem more durable. Biggest thing for me is ensuring bugs are easy to clean off, for my road trip end of Sept.

I'm using the Megs HCW. It lasts quite awhile, like 6 months. I tried like a bunch of spray sealants. Some of them don't last that long. Bead maker lasts like a week tops lol Turtle wax does last a pretty long time, but I find that it attracts dust. Megs isn't as slick, but seems to keep the car cleaner. Only thing that sucks is that these are harder to apply on glass compared to Bead maker. I don't follow the normal application that it says on the bottle though. The first application I do it to a dry car. Thereafter, I use it as a drying aid maybe like every other wash. Although, when I was testing, I did not top them up during the wash at all to see how long they would last. I get significantly less durability than all those videos you see where they just leave a hood out and wash it each time.

I'm planning to use Megs ceramic paint protection kit when I get my car back. Then use bead booster to top up every now and then and see how that goes. The Megs HCW spray impresses me in terms of durability, ease of use, and cost. Honestly don't see why you would really need to go with full on ceramic coat tbh. I'm only doing the Megs coating because it's the easiest to apply. Supposed to last 1 year. Probably longer if I use the Bead booster (which itself could also be used as a spray sealant).

Decided to stick with tried-and-true OG recommended products (PowerLock +, Collinite 845, Beadmaker). Autogeek currently has a 25% off sale that's ending in a few hours! Purchased the below items aside from a couple of Adam's hex grip applicators (not stocked) and CarPro Eraser (out of stock).

Bead maker lasts like a week tops lol

lol yeah sounds about right with what I've heard. Slickness is unreal but poor durability. I plan on using it as a drying aid with every wash to mitigate this.

Yeah because it's like just spraying oil on your car. Honestly, it doesn't even last a day sometimes. Especially when I wash and then all of a sudden it gets cold at night and there's morning dew. It's pretty much gone by that point. Or when it rains, gone lol It's more durable on glass though.

Starting to regret buying it, but you never know until you try. Plus, it was a really good deal - two 16 oz spray bottles and ten edgeless MF towels, all for $28. About $10 off that package deal before the 25% off... with the discount the towels alone are likely already that much lol

Been using Optimum No Rinse Wash & Wax mainly these days. :duckingLol I think I'll probably end up having to do the same. Looking around for places to rent with a single car garage in a group of low-rise condos, most don't have a hookup for a hose. Just need to decide on ONR or McKee's N914

If I have time I will hand wash my car and use lemon scented dish washing soap to wash the car down with then do a full rinse of the car to ensure no soap residue is left. Then usually before cooler weather begins to set in I will clay bar the ZHP and Audi since both of them are usually kept outside the garage and prep both for winter driving...

Usually I will use Griot's synthetic clay bar to prep the surface then switch over to compounding the surface using 3M Perfect It compound. Once that is done I will detail spray the area I compounded to wipe off any compound residue and then switch over to a polymer sealer (I use Rejex for this) to seal the paint surface and allow to cure... Once that is done I will then apply Griot's Garage ceramic based wax and then once that is dry I usually finish off applying by hand Pinnacle Sovereign paste wax and I'm done. Car has a fantastic finish that will last the entire winter. It is a lot of work but once done the results are worth it to me...

The engine bay also gets a cleaning and I start that process using Adams All Purpose cleaner and/or Simple Green. The Adams cleaner is an awesome product that I highly recommend for those who haven't tried it yet. It does an amazing job cleaning out the grease and other crap that accumulates in the engine compartment. :thumbsup

Not saying my way is the best way but everyone have their own way of detailing their rides... just showing everyone how I detail mine...

Just spent the past week or so slowly detailing my car, to ensure it's protected for my upcoming road trip. Process is as follows:

Exterior
- Strip wash with Meguiar's car soap and dish soap mixed together
- Spray CarPro IronX to remove metallic contaminants
- Clay with Autoglym clay bar to mechanically remove all other contaminants
- Wipe down with CarPro Eraser to get rid of any residue that may remain on the paint
- Hand-compound RIDS with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound
- Polish all painted surfaces with Meguiar's Ultimate Polish + Lake County CCS Pad (orange, light polishing) and a Harbour Freight DA polisher
- Wipe down with CarPro Eraser to get rid of any remaining polishing residue
- Apply 2 coats of Jescar PowerLock + with an Adam's Hex Grip applicator
- Apply 1 coat of Collinite 845 with another Adam's Hex Grip applicator

Glass
- Wipe down with Invisible glass
- Apply 1 coat of Soft99 Glaco glass sealant

Interior
- Vacuum carpets (not dirty enough to warrant shampoo)
- Vacuum floor mats, shampoo, rinse, and wipe dry
- Use Autoglym Leather Cleaner, followed by Autoglym Leather Conditioner on all leather surfaces
- Use Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer for all other interior surfaces like dash, centre console, etc.

Wheels and Tires (off the car)
- Strip wash with Meguiar's car soap and dish soap mixed together (wheels weren't dirty enough to warranty anything else)
- Apply 1 coat of Poorboy's Wheel Wax to all exposed surfaces of the wheel
- Apply Autoglym Instant Tire Dressing, wipe off with a damp towel to a matte sheen

Some pics:

First time using IronX, it was quite interesting to see the "bleeding":

Man, my car hasn't look this good in ages:

https://i.imgur.com/wpzqxtgl.png

Swapped back from my bucket to stock driver's seat, so much easier to clean with the extra room:

The slickness and depth of the paint is pretty unmatched, I'm quite impressed. It's my first time using the PowerLock + and Collinite 845 combo, but I see why everyone talks about it. Time will tell how durable these products are!

Looks very sharp. :thumbsupThanks Fredo!

Oh and I realized the wheels in those pics were my track setup which is why they look so ratty. I take very good care of my street setup as I've had them since new and they are nearly mint:

I've been a heavy user of CarPro products for the last 2 years. Great results with CarPro Reload, Eraser, IronX, Reset Shampoo and CQuartz UK 3.0 and Gliss. No reason to stop using them but I gave AMMO NYC a bigger chance with my latest car. I've used AMMO product (Frothee, Mud and Boost) and I liked them.

The below pic is the result of using Meguires M105 compound /M205 polish with AMMO Reflex Pro enamel coat and about a month alter using AMMO reboot enamel coat.

Reflex Pro- I like it, not convinced mainly due to the price ($150). I used 80% of the bottle on my ZHP with just one coat. Maybe I was used to CQuartz where I could get 2.5 cars with the same amount as it goes on thicker but the AMMO product went on thin and I might've overused the product. Can't speak of longevity but it feels super slick and the water beads/falls off better than the CQuartz. I found CQuartz would attract dust whereas AMMO Reflex Pro does not at all.

AMMO Reboot- I love this stuff. Great shine and super easy to apply (Spray on/ wipe off). I even used it on my NA Miata which had carnauba wax and I loved the results. Again, dust just flies off which is great because my garage gets super dusty.
